Domain Prices Rising July 1, 2010

    Domain name registry, Verisign had recently announced to its registrars (the companies that sell domains) that domain wholesale prices of .com and .net domains will be increasing as of July 1, 2010.

    All .com domains will raise by 7% and .net domains by 10%. The price increase should cause registrars to raise their prices by a similar percentage.

    -----

    Renew your domains as soon as possible ;)

    With recession around, I wonder what made them raise the prices... even though the rise is only by small percentage! Does anybody remember when were the prices revised... last? :confused:

    everything else is getting more expensive so paying more for domains isn't such a big shock

    The best GoDaddy codes for renewal:

    DNF5 (.com) - Only $7.17 (including ICANN), for 6 or more domains;

    EMFB7 (.net) - Only $7.67 (including ICANN)

    :)

    7% rise is not a cause of concern at all.

    According to me, .com domains are very common these days and meaningful domains are already registered. Its very difficult to get some good ones and a low budget guy slips to some other extension.
    So, the prices of .com domains should decrease rather than increasing.

    What say guys?

    I think the registrars will use it as an excuse to charge more than it costs them...
