    Hi there,

This question is for SEO experts. According with your experience:

Are you still having success on link signatures on forums?
Have you increased your customer rankings using forum signatures?

    Please, be honest.

Forum links and or signatures are not SEO. Period.... neither is blog commenting, link wheels, directory submissions and just about 99.9 percent of the services offered in the BST section of this wonderfully misguided forum.

I may not agree regarding to directory submissions, they might be helpful on good directories as Yahoo directory,DMOZ and business.com, since they just only accept quality sites. These directories are valid. Maybe others are useless. I agree this is a misguided forum. By the way, what is the 0.01 % left as good?

It is a matter of individual interpretation. Some SEO experts claim it is worthy and others do not. I think that if you are going to use forums ONLY for the sole purpose of building signature links with SEO in mind then you are approaching SEO and IM the wrong way.

In my approach, I use link signatures to get traffic. After all, links are made for the purpose of showing visitors a relevant site to visit. Most of the traffic my website has, come from forums. Of course, targeted traffic. However, I have read that many people is still having success on SERPs using forum signatures. What about article submissions are still worthy for link building?

Fair enough, there are, off the top of my head, approximately 5 directories worth your time. I will add joeant or BOTW into the mix but not for SEO reasons. I was commenting more on the "5 dollars we submit your site to 1,000 directories" posts you frequently find in the BST. That said, your customers will still not realize any sort of return from directory submissions. I have some fairly clear metrics that would indicate inclusion in dmoz used to be fairly helpful. Now, not so much.

Think about it this way... Having a link on a pr n/a page on some directory 40 pages deep is useless. I would like to think that most reasonably minded people can understand this.

And realistically speaking, unless we are talking about something like a comparative shopping site, when is the last time you perused some nebulous directory in attempts to find some sorta service provider?

But I merely opine. I get a range of flak for my relevant, brand or merit based approach to things around here. But, the more folks argue with me, the more work I get ;)

More specifically, the fellow above me has it figured out. Sigs are for marketing, not SEO.

I am not arguing with you. I am agree with you on most things you said, I was just saying that are some worthy directories, about 3 or 4. In my opinion, getting links is for the purpose of getting traffic so if the link can not be seen is worthless.

Sorry if I seemed argumentative. That was not certainly not my intention. To simply stay on track, my answer to your question is no. Forums sigs do not provide any sort of substantive, let alone definable SEO improvement.

A little bit useful with a less extent;better than nothing.
And getting traffic too. Each link just like an ads or road pointer, depending on the quality of the site.

It is, the actual hyperlink is going to change in a sec so I can index something immediately. That is basically all there is to that being there.

Give me a sec to scarf down some food. I am going to answer your question about my strategies but it's going to take a sec to properly sum that up. Its not so much how you do it, its the where and why that matters.

In my experience it works, because google indexes many backlinks from forums.

Read my thread before you haze me please...

Has nothing to do with SEO, I have other reasons to index something.

Forum links may be useful for traffic, but not for back-links at least not for Google.

Can you prove it? Do you have a site promoted in that way you may share?

You want a screen shot of my backlinks, from this forum, from my Google Webmaster Tools?
