Are you looking for an interval in between processing data? You can use the sleep function but this isnt overly good practice;

What is stopping you processing it through cron every 5 minutes or so? It sounds like you may want to restructure your code.

 

If you can't use your own language use a graphical representation else flow chart to give your idea
