Hello I'm just wondering from other users experiences, if you check the Google keyword tool and see how many searches a keyword gets, when you rank 1st for that keyword, what percentage or how many clicks do you usually get for that keyword compared to what the keyword tool says it gets per month? For example, says Google says a certain keyword gets 10k searches per month, if I rank #1 - #5 or so on the first page, how many visits from Google should I expect? Thanks Caden
It all depends on the niche, the season and the keyword, no one can really give any amount of clicks or even percentage, the only way to find it is to do it
It's hard to give an estimation. Like what LBP has said, it really depends on lots of factors like having a good title and description that are displayed on search results. Some times visitors might click the number two spot instead of rank 1 if it has a nice title and description.
First off - always use exact match on the Google Adwords tool to estimate search volume, and you can see seasonal variation with it. According to reseach from Chikita - and this is very up to date research that was published last month - the no1 spot should yield just under 35% of clicks- http://chitika.com/research/2010/the-value-of-google-result-positioning/
1 to 6 position on search engines gets good clicks because users don't want to go ahead if they get relevant information.
I have read a post some where in which a web guru has a problem he said that he is on top of Google and rank 1 for any keyword Google Ad Word shows that about 7K monthly searches on that keyword but he has about 5 to 10 unique visitor daily. The problem is that some time Google Adword results are not reliable, use any other suggestion tool along with it.
I guess if you choose low comptetions keyword and still having high searches, it will make easier for you to rank high. Probably this video tutorial helps how to choose keywords.
Get a free (or trial) version of Market Samurai, do your keyword research then look at the SEOT value. this is an estimate of the traffic the #1 ranked site will actualy get.
This is a SERP calculator based on your current position and how many more clicks you will get based on what position you move up to. http://www.bestrank.com/seo-tools/click-distribution-calculator Also click distribution can be affected by how well you write your title tag and description! The bonus about being higher up in the page is your conversions are usually better considering everyone is selling comparable products at comparable prices and the sales copy is comparable.
You better use some white hat seo techniques in promoting your site.. This will surely help in the increase of your rank in some serps.
