Hi I currently am on a shared server - which I am quickly outgrowing I have been putting a high load on the server. I have been trying to optimise my scripting - but I can only take it so far. I probably need to go to a dedicated server. But don;t want to splash out too much. Any recommedations? Cheers
http://www.fluidhosting.com/ i just bought a VPS and have been extremely happy.. they offer Great support
Keep in mind, a lot of people here at DP are in the Hosting Biz. We've been at it for 10 years! Pricing for dedicated servers can be found here: http://hostdrive.com/dedicated/index.html Good luck where ever you go.
what script you are running? is it too much database oriented ? what do you mean by loading server ? what aplication (apache / mysql / somrthing else) causing overload ? if you are hosting community forum whiuch is getting more number of users then its better you upgrade to VPS first and then go for dedicated server.
Check out HostForWeb.com. The prices are reasonably cheap, and for me it hosts my sites (and customer sites) getting 12,000 daily uniques, 300,000+ pageviews daily with most of the sites using php/MySql. Actually, the VPS I am on is better than the dedicated server I had before for three times the price.
If you want really cheap too, there is a company ServerPronto.com that has them for less than $30. I haven't tried them, so I don't know how good they are... also if you have problems with server load, cheapest might not be best.
