Can anyone help me on this? One of my blogs is in the fairly active relationship advice niche and I am managing it for the last 6 months. Presently I am getting about 2400+ uniques a month as per Google analytics. Have done quite some effort and spent some money for backlinking. I started building a list much later but now I've got 100+ subscribers on my email list. I've set up around 4 months of autoresponder mails sequence. Should I sell it or keep it? Will I get a good price if I sell it?
If there's no reason to sell it and your making money from it then keep it. If your too busy to manage it or your losing money then sell it. When selling a website the following are taken into consideration: 1. The domain name, length, brandable or not, PR etc. 2. How much traffic the site has. 3. How much revenue is being made. 4. Whether or not the content is unique. 5. Whether or not the design is unique. 6. Alexa rank (not always but most of the time, despite how inaccurate alexa can be sometimes). And a few others, but it's always different per buyer. Good luck!
With that amount of traffic and an subscriber list....you would not likely have a hard time selling it and making pretty good money off it. Does it have any backlinks? Do you have any revenue? If you monetize the site or make money off your list you can get 5-10 times what your monthly earnings are selling it!
Just recently upgraded to PR1 Alexa ranking has improved from 6,000,000+ to 2,649,542 - 3 month and 1 month has fallen further 41 links as per yahoo site explorer, but I done lot more than that... will show up in future... Not much of monetization, though...
The only place I've ever been able to actually sell one of my sites was flippa.com Every time I've tried anywhere else I just get a bunch of tire kickers... worse than craigslist. If it's automated and making you money, though, I'd say hold onto it.
Definitely want to monetize and see how much you can make per month off of it. This way you can sell for much more than you could now.
Adsense , alll the way .. If your revenue is greater than your overheads i.e hosting , time e.t.c keep the site ..
@samsonthomas, subscribers, traffic etc. are all potential which does not works out when you sell a site. pr1 is nothing much to talk about and no one gives a damm on how much alexa rank you got. If you want to sell it, you will get 5 to 7 months of what you are currently earning, if the site has good earning history then you can expect up to 12 months of earning as the sale price. so, first try to make money from the site and then think of selling it
uttoransen, why would he sell the site which earns good, no logic - if he's earning via adsense, and has time or the site doesn't require time for meintance
This is pretty much exactly what I was going to post. Only sell a profitable web site if you are desperate for quick cash, and make sure you get at LEAST 12 times your monthly revenue out of the sale, preferably 24.
Throw out a high price for your site on flippa and test the waters. You will soon see how valuable it is.
If its not earning much but you think it has potential, you will never get the market value for the site so its best keeping it and working on it unless you really need the money.
I will only suggest you to sell it when you are 1. lack of money 2. this website have no potential to grow 3. Get very good offer from buyer 4. Dont want to run this website anymore Else, you shall keep it and develop it
Maybe sell it if you are busy in other business.(I have several sites too.) And let other to take of it. Just a reference for you. Ked38
Yes, I recently started adsense.... results are not impressive... but anyway... I think I should wait for a month to take a final decision on that
the logic is requirement, if he requires quick money then he will sell... we all require money to invest further in our business and that's why we sell good ventures to invest the money in another good venture which requires further funds to grow i remember when i had sold my first site, that was a long time back and the reason was, i wanted to buy a mobile phone... the site would have earned the money in say 4 to 6 months time, but my requirement could'nt wait for those months
i think you should wait for some time. you have invested so much money on this website and i am sure it will do a good business in the future..
