You're right about the funny videos part. Unless you are working on CPM or have a site ABOUT funny videos you wont make much. But targeted videos are different thing. If you have a fitness site and make fitness videos , people who like it will visit your site. 100% targeted customers. Look at this guy lee hayward. he does a lot of video marketing using this same thing..

Getting 2 million+ views per week is a good problem to have. If the funny videos are related the a specific niche you can easily use this kind of traffic to generate healthy affiliate commissions.
Clickbank is the place to go to find suitable affiliate products.

Plus, they earn ~0.2$ for 1000 views. For 10.000 views it's 2$, for 100.000 it's 20$ and for 1.000.000 it's 200$. So from 2 millions they make 400$, then come the click on ads (10.000 out of million visitors will most likely click on an ad, and if an ad is about 10 cent per click that's another 1000$ dollars, maybe some sponsors, people visit their site and buy stuff.

I guess that tech related people get most visitors to their site and sell stuff while those funny guys just earn from views and clicks.

Where are you getting these figures? Just out of curiousity... My youtube partner account doesn't earn any type of "view" earnings. I just get paid my portion of revenue sharing.

Interesting, everyone that I have asked told me that they earn per views. Plus, there are many posts out there, even one on DP that I just found - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=727982

Pretty sure when the people in that thread are talking about CPM payouts, they're not talking for youtube partners, but instead what they're earning on average when they have a link in their description box.

I could be wrong though, but my YT account doesn't make any kind of CPM... I just get revenue on a CPC basis.

EDIT: Interesting, I just read this, apparently different partners get different payout structures and even different payment amounts depending on their channel... http://newteevee.com/2008/04/16/youtube-all-partners-are-not-the-same/
