Out of curiosity, for those with large numbers actually in use, how do you do it? I'm envious. Do you just set up sites that don't need regular updating, or do you hire people to update for you? I just can't imagine having to update more on my own. Jenn
Before I had more than 100 domains, all things to do was being done by me. But later it started to be so hard, and I didn't have much time. So I hired 2-3 partners and right now about 120-130 domains are being updated by them. I give them %20 of incomes for every domain they manage, so we're all happy edit: By the way, about 100 domains of me are just parked. They have no content, waiting to be projected..
Most of mine are also parked (some sites put ads on them). It can seem not very good business, but the ads are very good for the url, and when I check them I think I would click. Sometimes are better than the search machines results. I.e. If i want cheap flights and search in google, the first results are blogs that speak about cheap flights and offers and... but the ads are from people selling cheap flights that is what i am looking for. Instead of searching in google, you can type directly weselltoyouthecheapestflights.com (I don't think it exists) and if it's a parked site, there will be the ads with the sites you where looking for. Is the direct traffic, as I say is the new internet
I make sites that update the content or needs very less admin interaction. That way I am able to handle more number of sites. There are some drawbacks in this technique but then who cares when the quantity is too much.
I currently own 5 and am updating 3 of them. I have some plans to get two more, but would rather 2 of the 5 i have right now get a little more on their way before I buy the other two.
I have arround 100 all active, but a lot of the is redirects to my active domains. For exampel i have my-domain.com and mydomain.com and mydomain.net etc
I just checked my list of domains I own and I have 162 with 12 of them being used. I just get this craze now and again to spend money on GoDaddy then I keep them for a year and dump them.
I think it was 9 last time I counted. 2 of them I update sometimes, 1 I update regulary, 1 of them has only one static page, some I plan to use in the future, or sell them or let them expire...
I have 30+ domain names. 5 are active. (It takes a LOT of my time)....I have 3 projects that I can't wait to get my hands on...but don't have enough time to!
Currently I only own one, though as I get closer to finishing alot of the sites Im building Ill buy 3 more.
