Contest $30 Logo Contest for Gag/Magic Store

Discussion in 'Design Contests' started by Gallabanga, Jun 7, 2010.

We are looking to have a logo made for our upcoming magic/gag store. The name of the store is Magic*And*Gags.com (without stars).

The winner of the contest will receive $30 via Paypal.

We are looking for the logo to be themed toward both magic and gags. The logo must be completely original!

I will give feedback on EVERY design.

    Good luck!

dnsm you missed this "The logo must be completely original!"
Imagine how it would look like if I take your logos, put my signature and watermarks and call them mine. :)

Oh, yeah I noticed the part
"We are looking for the logo to be themed toward both magic and gags. The logo must be completely original!

I will give feedback on EVERY design.

    Good luck!"

Didn't see that because the stupid commercial was there.
    Sorry for that.

Whether you saw it there or not.. All clipart/Stock sites have a strict policy for BOTH basic & extended licenses that PROHIBIT the use of ANY stock/clipart in a logo/brand. They restrict it because they are used by millions and can no longer be deemed unique or original. That means anyone using stock/clipart in a brand image is subject to lawsuits. You might want to think about actually designing your own graphics, I've noticed you entering lots of contests with clipart. Good luck :)

Thanks for this, but to be honest I'm not mainly entering these contest to win, I'm still learning. I've been using Photoshop for almost a month now and I just want to learn some new techniques and that stuff, cause I really like all your work you guys enter here. But for now, I don't think that I can even call myself a "designer", still a learner. (a newbie With PS) :p

But I'll try to make my own smileys and etc, BUT the only problem is that I've got no clue how to make 'em. With pentooling or something like that?

    Thanks.

Yea you might want to listen to scorp.
Not like you not allowed to use clipart in design.
But imagine you starting a business and you got this clipart in your logo, someone can sue you for using it coporately and making money just through the name. Doesent sound like a big deal, but it happens.

Note to all: Please remember to include the .com in the logo!

@knique - I like the vector monkie. It's a cute idea just not professional enough. Keep trying :)

@ancitis - Love the concept, not sure it's EXACTLY what were looking for though. Keep trying :)

@HugoDorfling - Not exactly what we are aiming for. Looking for more graphics in it. Keep trying :)

@scorpionagency - Also love the concept but not strong enough, looks kind of cheap. Keep trying :)

@dnsm - I am seeking talented designers with ORIGINAL work. You may continue to keep trying but be sure to keep the work ORIGINAL.

I am not the Contest Host and neither are the commentators, You chose some great fonts and that work is all yours, folks flame when they type cause they have the safety of not being immediately flamed backed, in the real world chalk them up as haters, in my opinion you placed the objects well and with some quick tutorials like on psdtuts.com, any one on gradients and blending options, you could recreate those original ideas in a snap with PS, cause your idea is original and probably scared the others that you would have got picked over theirs...Yet the rules of the CH are original artwork....Keep at it make another entry don't be discouraged, and in healthy competition the other commentators ought to say thanks to you for upgrading their game

okay, Thanks for the positive feedback, I wondering "professional enough" as in the artwork detail isn't polished or "professional enough", as look may be too juvenile....and could you tell us more about the store
