I am a bit confused. With some of my domains, there seems to a be numerous Yahoo backlinks, but none from Google. Why is this?
Google has always been very selective in showing the number of backlinks and I guess... it filters out lot many backlinks which do not confirm to their set criteria! Regards, RightMan
Make sure you check webmaster tools for your links, as the link:www.yoursite.com is not always accurate. Google also only appreciates good dofollow links while yahoo usually has anything that links to you.
this is often ask... google and yahoo got different algorithm. Yahoo show all the links pointing to your site while google don't only those links they think got quality.
One day google shows you some links and the next day it lets you see other ones. Go figure. You can see a few more in webmaster tools than you do by going link:yourdomain . com, but it is always up and down and changing too.
Yahoo and Google does use a different in counting links toward each website. Yahoo does counts every backlinks including nofollow while Google does count only a few samples. However, Google does update link frequently and counted more links more than you can see via link: search operator. The only way you can see the real number of backlinks counted from Google perspective is by view through Google Webmaster Tools.
Google will not show all the links. Using link command you will get limited number of links. you can check Google webmaster tools and also Yahoo site explorer to get all the back links.
Yes I also analyze that Google show less no of backlinks than yahoo, I think Google backlink refining system is very selective but you can see all backlinks from google webmaster tool
If you do link:yourdomain.com, Google only show certain links. Join google.com/webmasters if you want to see all your backlinks.
Sometimes Google show backlink from the websites that is full of bad neighborhood..which is crazy. Only Google knows what criterion it follows.
Its the same story everywhere. Google shows less number of links than Yahoo. Even yahoo does not show all the links.... I use SEO spyglass to check the number of links.... Its a free tool and a good one too.
Google just displays a few backlinks of your site using link operator. To see more of them, you need to check it in your google webmaster tool account.
Google has clearly stated that "link:yourdomain.com" shows only a SAMPLE of the backlinks for the site. In order to see the complete list of backlinks use the Google Webmaster Tool or yahoo site explorer
