I'm making a site and it's going to be called SearchXtreme.co.uk. However there is already a very similar site with also a very similar name/domain(CompareXtreme.co.uk), so would I be allowed to make mine or not?
That's one of those questions that has no black and white answer. There is nothing preventing another company from suing you for infringement. Whether or not they would choose to take legal action is unknown. I would certainly not have a site design or logo that in anyway looks like theirs. If that's the actual url of the competing site, I wouldn't worry about any issues with them as it doesn't even look like a functioning site.
Their domain is www.CompareXtreme.co.uk and mine is going to be www.SearchXtreme.co.uk. But the site won't be exactly the same, mine is going to be like www.icysearch.co.uk & www.cartoonsearch.co.uk and their site is slightly different. What do you think about it now? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
Search and Compare don't really mean the same thing and I wouldn't even put them in the same boat when thinking about it. Maybe xtreme, but that's such a common word.
Hello mjewel, Don't worry the word Xtreme is not registered trade mark and az 24788 say those 2 domain names don't mean the same thing. Also I'm sure that you will have way better design that them Best regards MorFeaS
Thanks for all the help guys. I would Thank/Rep you but this forum doesn't have that. Anyways, the site is going to be called Search Extreme.
It does have rep actually - see the little bottom right button? The star? Click that on their post then wait a second for the box to pop up; don't click twice. (It's a bit buggy )
