I really don't want to get banned

    Hi all,

I've just found this forum, I wish I found it years ago, I might have made less mistakes ;-)

I've been blogging for a few years now, and generally do it for enjoyment. I run a couple of technology blogs and also a personal blog where I sometimes discuss my blogging.

I've been writing a few articles recently about autoblogging, and the different ways to do them, and have set up a couple of auto blogs to compair how different tools get different results.

Being honest I expected them all to fail misserably, but one is doing ok - about 100 unique visitors a day.
and growing (morning-digest.jpmblog.com), and I've started to think about adding adense on there.

However I would rather not get my adsense account locked by google.

I've seen so many different opinions on Autoblogging and adsense and I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on wether it would be ok or not. Every article on the auto blog quotes it's original source.

    cheers
    John M

Maybe I am not the person to advise you as I am not blogging at all, but my opinion based on what I read across DP is to stay away, I mean not to use adsense on autoblogs.
There are different opinions - some use it and say its safe, others(some I know personally) who are QUITE INTO auto-blogging do not risk and monetize the blogs via other ways.

In any case with 100 visitors a day, or be it few hundred, I do not think its worth the risk if you already are making some money with adsense across other sites of yours.
Actually I was always wondering how these auto blogs get any traffic at all. I mean I know theoretically, but still wonder how it works in real...who visits them and why.

    Cheers

Adsense doesn't ban for any reason. You should go over the Terms of Service and see if you are able to follow all the rules.

    That's my tip:)

Ya, but the point is that this is between the rules - he mentions the source of the articles which is ok, but at the same time he does not have any unique content. It is just an automated copy/paste of text/images/videos or whatever. That's why I am wondering how that kind of blogs get any visitors at all, especially 100 a day?!

I wouldn't risk although most of my earnings are from affiliates...and I wouldn't blog at all - nothing so interesting to say, and even there was smth it would be for fun not for money so no reason to monetize it...

Hi Abraxas - The vast majority of my traffic comes from google.
More then anything else because the scope of the site is quite wide & it's updated often, it's been quite good at spotting trends, eg whats popular and whats not. Reality TV seems to be hot at the moment

Just out of curiosity - What other ways of monetizing the site would your friends recomend?

I was suprised. The only thing I can think of is that because the blog updates frequently, i get content published before other sites.

Other Ad networks (depending on the niche) or affiliate products, but I do not believe affiliates will work well for such blogs.

Otherwise yes, maybe the traffic is because of the fresh content, but still these articles are firstly published by quite more major and popular sites, which should get indexed first plus hundreds of other autoblogs.
It is just my opinion, but what's the point for 100 visitors...let it be 500. How many clicks? 2 maybe, 10? Don't think it is worth, but I've been always curious about it and that's why I am following such threads.
Remember one guy from this forum...can't remember his exact nickname as have not seem him since long time around here. He was making some really good money from auto-blogs - surely without adsense. I think I have some emails from him, will try to dig 'em up and let you know if I succeed, but probably tomorrow as I'll have to go out in a few hours... Also he had some tips and recommended tools, but cannot tell anything from my own experience as I've never ever had any blog...just about to make some miserable attempts to make such for my mom as she wants to publish some specific news on it (she's a journalist).

I think Google doesn't like Auto Blogging sites. It's up to you if you want to risk it but I've read quite a few auto blogging sites got banned from adsense.

Thanks for the help abraxas any info would be great. 100 visitors might not be many but for the purposes for my experiement it might prove a concept of point.
if it works for 1 blog it might work for 10.

    Cheers

That is a good point. I am just not into blogging, especially auto-such and have no idea how much time it takes to set-up one.
Will try to find the emails and PM you or email you the info if I pick them.

That's what I think about my article directory. It gets content from many automated sources (Like an auto-blog) and it's quite successful. I get around 1000 visitors per day and 80% come from google.

    Hi all.

I'm holding off adsense for a while, Traffic continues to rise and my autoblog got well over 200 hits yesterday, I'm currious to see how high it gets.

Curriously 2 other Autoblogs I set up using the same plugin wp-matic are getting 0 hits.

    Cheers

It seems a wise idea to hold them for a while since you are unwilling to take risk and probably are earning better already on your a/c .

Interestingly since google changed their algorithms on Friday the site is getting close to zero traffic. So def not worth the risk now.

Nothing to be surprised, I had Autoblogs which gave me 250+ Visits a day... But i never had implemented adsense onto it. Because, Sooner, or Later, You will be FIRED :)

Currently, Google is not strict on the Content Duplication, but once it becomes, you are Banned :).

    Thanks.
