You are not wasting your time. Digg is a very respected site and it should help you a lot in a long run.

THe way I see it, only the popular links are without rel="nofollow", so only if you can get your to be popular, then do it. Otherwise it is not worth it.

You'll only get nofollow links, so submitting to Digg won't help your site's rankings.

digg and seo dont get along together very well. besides, due to massive spamming, digg turned nofollow meaning no more backlinks from them. yahoo and bing still counts nofollow links however.

while there would be not much of an seo benefit from digg, you can get some nice traffic from there if you can manage to get your story dugg by decent number of diggers. one story i submitted only has 39 diggs and i get few hundred visits from digg every month to that page. so there is some use to it after all

if you have 100 or 1 links from a website its the same value so better to stick with just having one link from digg and it can have value it can rank your digg bookmark for longtail keywords but i'd rather use dofollow bookmarking sites.

But even if its a no follow link, sometimes you will get good amount of traffic sometimes. Once I did a post on windows 7 themes and I got a lot of traffic from digg.

Dig do not give u linkjuice as it has nofollow link but you could increase your traffic instead from Digg. I would suggest you to use squidoo if you need to build SEO

Submitting in Digg is very useful. Digg will help the search engine to crawl the site.

This is not correct. You get additional credit for multiple links from the same site... Having a footer link on every page of another site will pass you more PR and help your rankings (assuming the link is keyword rich) than having a single footer link would. And the same goes with contextual links.

In some cases (as in the case of footer links), the links however get discounted somewhat, but are not treated like its only a single link. Having a footer link from every page on a 100 page site might not pass you credit for 100 links, but it definitely passes more than just 1. And they mainly discount links founded in the templated portion of the page (the portion that is the same on multiple pages on the site like the header, footer, blogrolls on blogs, etc.) Having multiple contextual links on multiple pages of a site with multiple variations of keywords will often not be discounted at all.

DIGG Really sucks! It's full of SEO guys. No regular surfers are on Digg. IF your site is non internet marketing related you are screwed.

Digg will help you for traffic and it helps indirectly to get your pages crawled quickly.
otherwise it doesnt have any relation with SEO

Links from digg is no follow. Though It will help you to get your new site indexed quite fast. You will also get additional traffic from it. However due to its no follow tag its useless for SEo purposes.

It is very useful for SE's like yahoo and bing. But not for google as they are nofollow links. Though they significantly devrease the index time.

Very good answer to the post.

Remember, it depends on the quality of links which will help you out and what kind of traffic they generate for you. If you put an article on digg, and it stays at 1 digg, all your doing is getting indexed in Google easier. If it gets to 500 for example, you can count on that link always driving in some people. Which is not SEO at all

Submitting to digg will not increase ranking. Digg links are no-follow. But it will generate traffic.
