What do your parents use the web for?

Just curious as to what other parent's use the internet for... mine basically just watch news and read like CNN all day and celebrity gossip for the mom. They are both in their 50's.

 

My mon does not use the internet, and my dad use it to read the news.

 

My mom talks on alot of surgery related forums. She's had 5 surgeries so she talks others through hard times. She loves gardening forums and of course Sylvia Brownes site. My dad hardly ever uses the internet. I had to help him use google earth because he was cussing at it. I got my mom a 80 gig harddrive for her b-day so she could update her Real Arcade games without her computer crashing. Just need to get her some ram sticks now, because sometimes her HP computer shuts off during her game. She enters alot of sweepstakes on-line too.

 

My parents use the internet as a scapegoat for all the world's evils.

If only they knew........

 

My parents only use it for communication w/ my brother's abroad

None of my parents use the web. If they want something searched or emailed.. they'll ask me to do it for them but that too is rare

 

Online banking. That's about as far as it goes. Also the occasional email.

 

my mother always forwards me her spam and other crap.
and she visits some weight loss pages (ends up on mfa sites in most cases clicking the ads) or "get rich with mlm-marketing" sites.
but i thinkl she never orders something on the internet, always prints out the order and sends it via fax.

 

Haha my mom learned all about MFA sites from me so she is more careful now

 

My mom uses it for her job's automation. And my dad uses it for many things, but especially for betting and reading news

 

My parents are both in the sixties. My dad's uses the net for everyday stuff, mailing, banking, searching, developing digital photos etc. He's been pretty interested in computers since the early 80's so he know his way around.

My mom's never been a big fan of computers but since her best friend moved to China she's been forced to learn how to write and send emails.

They finally decided to get their connection through cable this summer so now it's not like going back to the stone age when I come visit. (eventhough the loud dial up connection tones are nice nostalgic sounds).

 

MP3's and burning CD's..and AIM.

 

i excepted someone to say that his dad or mom uses internet to search for some spy programs to know what his son is seeing on the web

 

My father uses it mainly for work, and my mother uses it for banking and playing flash games like Bingo.

I think its time for you lot to move out and not bother about what they look at
