    Fun anonymous poll.
To what extend SEO does influence your life, starting from doing SEO for fun and ending with making the whole solid bunch of money just from you SEO expertise?

SEO really consumed 50% of my time online. I would not say it's fun because it is a lot of work. It's been two months now and i am starting to see results.

Hei, you are missing one important option: Do seo for most of my time, but earn misery out of it so far ;-) With the hope that it will get through someday.
But all your options are to much close to positive, imho.

Now a days, most of my time is going only on SEO.
I am a SEO professional, working full time for a company & doing freelancing.

I'm just doing search engine optimization on my own sites, rarely help a friend out if I have the time. What most of the people lack is the drive to keep going. Once you know your stuff, keep on doing it. Sooner or later there will be results.
On another note... I love how older sites of mine, sometimes forgotten, bring money on the table. So yeah, it does pay my bills and sometimes much more.

SEO is definately a useful skill but it does take up a lot of time.

Indeed, that kind of option is missing. Just forgot my first unsuccessful and frustrating 6 months in SEO.

In overview, I see no pure SEO pro so far, but most of the repliers spend lot of time on SEO and get some good money of it. Bravo!

asghar.paracha, I find it very similar to the area of a risky financial trading: you can never be sure about positive results of your time/money investments, but if it goes well one day - you can be rewarded (financially and spiritually ) to a degree that noone has expected, even yourself.

Meanwhile, we get the first "pure SEO pro" around here. Which is a sign of justification of SEO as a self-standing profession.

    Very much...
Firstly it is my bread and butter. Secondly it gives me immense pleasure and job satisfaction when I make sites rank and my shortlisted keywords drives traffic towards a website.

mithil, agree. The most amazing thing I find in SEO is when, suddenly, REAL people start visiting YOUR pages, reading YOUR content, using YOUR services.
Out of nowhere. This is fantastic.

First time I hear that someone is spending 1/5 of his time on reading pro sources.
What sources are you reading, San Diego SEO?

Interesting poll. I wanted to say SEO is for fun, but I do make some money, so I went with the option above that.

I love SEO. I just find it really fun. It's the only thing I do for now as well, since I don't want to get into adsense yet.

Seo was fun after the first month sure it is great to apply it and see it work but I think your content to visitors is really important. You can have great seo but if your content is poor you will not retain returning visitors.
