depends on many many factors..I like to work like that rather than building links for someone else's website it takes months and years but your website is worth something after these months, you can use that traffic in many ways and you have many other advantages
Useless? did you ever tried doing it yourself without any results then? For those that have no idea what is pinging, this url have a very good video on what is pinging and how its done: http://donna-mariecoggins.com/how-to-ping-your-blog/ A while back I had a few articles that didnt ranked well, paid a guy to help me out and he pinged them for me with a software he had. I started getting 5x more traffic in a few days because my articles suddenly started to rank higher. Is pinging useless? I sure thought it is a waste of time, but when I saw the results I had to change my mind As always, take my comment with a pinch of salt. not because it worked for me a while back its still working now or will work for you...I simply shared my experience so maybe someone can find it useful! Cheers!
Guys, pinging serves one purpose - and only one - that is to bring your content whatever it might be to the attention of the search engines and get it indexed. No more, no less. The reason you ping stuff is to get the bots coming to index you. The reason you see better rankings is because your bookmarks, rss feeds, articles..whatever you have pung (is that even a word) are being indexed. Remember - each backlink counts like a vote and if the backlink isnt picked up then it might as well not exist - and thats whether its a forum profile, bookmark or full blown article. The advice for pinging it 10,000 or whatever is utter rubbish IMO - its like walking into a room and shouting hey 'look at me' 10000 times - if you dont get noticed after the first couple of shouts your more likely to be thrown out of the room!! Ping everything once and if its not indexed a few days later by all means ping it again .. but pinging the same thing 10000 or 1000 times will probably get it flagged as spam. BTW sites like EZA get spidered all the time, personally I never ping my articles there because i dont need to - they usually get picked up within 24 hours.
Unfortunately, my writing articles days are long gone, but here's what I've been doing back then. I'd write a great article for ezine and submit it, make sure it got approved then do some social bookmarking on it. Make sure you do have a link back to your main site. Then rinse and repeat. Forget your old article, write a new one, do social bookmarking, get to the next one. Out of 10 articles, one or two would make it big.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to backlink ezine articles. I have tried building backlinks from other article directies with unique content but the backlinks aren't showing up
