Please forgive me if this is not the best place for this question, or if this website isn't even the best place, but I figured I'd start with you all, and hope for a little leniency and possibly a point in the right direction. Anyway, enough of my babbling.

I'm a moderator of a fairly busy and successful forum. What I want is a very specific script for a browser I can keep open and logged in on my id at all times, and only target newly created threads in the members introduction section of my forum.
Basically what I need the script to do is to refresh the page a specified number of times each minute, and only open newly created threads. In the thread I want the script to give a greeting/well wish to the new member, and then search for the next new thread. has to be new threads only, I don't want to look stupid by having the bot necro a thread from 3 yrs ago, with a greeting.

Honestly I like greeting the new members, but when we're getting about 50-100 new members every day, it gets a little overwhelming plus having to scour the rest of the forum for spammers, double posters, and flame wars. Never mind just trying to stay in touch with subscribed threads.

The bottom line, I want to keep up appearances of being friendly but I'd like to ease my (self-imposed) burden just a lil.

Can anyone suggest a place to start looking for something like this? or maybe a coder who would be willing to undertake the task?

    Thanks :D

Sorry, I didn't think the forum software would really matter since I was looking for a browser script. It's Vbuletin.

Thank you for your opinion. :) I figured I might have to just either suck it up, or drop a little bit of the load I'm carrying.
