Oh noes! The people of Pakistan are at grave risk! They might be offended or learn something. Run! Flee! Panic! Scream! Shout!
It would become a much more interesting story if the "perpetrator" of the "draw Muhammed" group was found to be living in Pakistan.
They must immediately slaughter all who dare put them at this severe risk! KILL FACEBOOK! JIHAD! ALLAH AKBAR!
orly? What is it that you learn from facebook again? Not that I approve of censorship, in fact I think this whole thing is quite funny and stupid at the same time, but cmon.. learn smth from facebook? she/he is generally like that, don't pay too much attention.
It depends, if you're there to play Farmville all day you may lose the opportunity to connect with people who have something to say.
What exactly is a "looser", msk? Also - Were you born in 1994? A few of us have wondered - the extra 9 makes it hard to clarify. @Hollow - I (a "she" not "he", just for the record) typically don't impersonate people - I just found it funny that there were a bunch of angry little Muslims who would be yelling crazy stuff because a website exists. Lol.
Why is that so bizarre. Through friendfeed all my stumbles and tweets end up on facebook. If any of my friends had an interest in geeky things I'm sure they'd be interested in what I've been checking out. I certainly take an interest in the links they post. So the learning may not be "on" facebook but it facilitates that learning.
That doesn't make any sense. In fact it's ironic that you say 'close-minded'. Though I know you say it in contrast to open-minded, you must surely be aware that facebook itself is a virtual 'connection' with people, thus a series of actions and thoughts closed and limited into the head and inside a closed internet connection, with no real connection whatsoever to people, but their closed minds. If there is anything at all you might learn from facebook, is in the likes of who your ex is fucking etc. I see that as feeding the stalking thirst, so to each their own, but please no more collective bullshit of peer pressure like 'close-minded' and so on. @alexispetrov - yeah it's pathetic; I don't know about you, but to me is pathetic enough not to give any food for thought to these discussions. It's the same as being an overly magnified shepherd but instead of the regular sheep, you have to deal with sheeple whom continuously are known for their stupidity, ignorance, and extremisim: they make a fly into a flyosaurus - best ignore them and let them vanish in their own ignorance.
I think you've missed the point of social networking. Just leave it to those of us who know what we're doing. It can be so much more than cyber-stalking and spam.
But we are not talking learning about social networks, how to spam, how to gain traffic etc. Since I'm a user in this forum I know very well the concepts and applicative tasks and developments of social networking as seen from a webmaster/marketeer/developer and plain old regular user. Truth is (and this is what is being talked about in this thread deviation) that the majority of facebook users don't even know how to fix their privacy settings, let alone 'learn something' about the 'points of social networking'... and even if it was a reverse case, facebook is the playground (or stalkerground) - knowledge resides elsewhere. And remember that Diaspora came as a response to "those of you who know what you are doing". Do keep in mind also that facebook, along with all social networks and whatnot, afterall is just a website.
