Hello DP Members.. I live in India and One of My friend wants to work free lance as a write. She got a project of writing blog post of 300 words each. Client is asking per post(300) charges to her? We don't have any idea about charges in India? So please hep us.. What she can charge for one post of 300 words? If you can answer in rupees than it will be more helpful for us.
Depends .... 1) Is she desperate for work - in other words, can she live through not actually getting the work if the client finds the prices too high for comfort ? 2) Who the client is? If the client is a big company or it's rep, they would have a decent budget. If it's some start-up company or an individual, they won't be able to pay well enough. 3) Does she have any portfolio of past work? In other words, can she flaunt some credentials in the face of the client while asking for big bucks? On an average - the clients in India don't pay well. The reason isn't always their budget limitation, but the fact that they are sure they'll find a good writer at their low rates anyways. Honestly, for an average individual or company, the max. they'd be willing to pay would be Rs. 250 for 500 words - esp if your friend has no expertise or experience. What you can do is prepare an excellent sample for the client and quote a price of Rs. 500- Rs. 750 and also send that sample saying that though you think that the article quality is good enough to demand that kind of money, yet you are open to negotiation. IMHO, high paying clients won't be easy to come by and I won't be surprised if you tell me that the client asked your friend to start at Rs. 70-80 Best of Luck !!
In the internet world, it does not matter what country you live in. It may be a hindrance, but not an excuse. You have the same mind power as anyone else. What matters is that you then learn to write quality, and to write for the proper client. Show the person, how much your writing is worth to them! Let's say your client were a business person selling a product. You write a quality 300 word blog, properly worded. One of the search terms, you used, was only entered 1,000 times monthly, and yet it ranked #1 in Google. That would mean 343 monthly readers, or lets use a very low figure of only 10%. 10% then visit the website. 400 visitors at $2 each = $800.00 first year, and then the blog still remains in the search archive. The poster above would certainly agree, since I only used 10% of the actual figure. That certainly is worth more.. ------so learn how you can-----hope that helps --------------------- --
Yes facerec , dyadvisor is right and that would mean that your friend would need to build up her skills. This would put her in a position of holding her own in the face of the kind of bargain hunting that goes on when clients search for writers. You seem to be a blog owner ? Why not guide her into this field through the expertise that you may have so that she can earn her and write for herself ? Just an idea ...
Thanx confused_freelancer and dyadvisor.. thanx for your valuable thoughts. But let me show you actual picture. She has taken project from a person who is also free lancer (He just take project and pass those to others like us in cheap rates) , so we don't know the actual client. The person(who has given project to her) is just passing his client's project to my friend. So she don't know what actual client is giving to that person. Yesterday he told my friend that he will pay 90 rs per post (300 words each) but may be he is taking more than 90 rs from client. So he is not working still he is erning. And yes.. My friend has good writing skill. She is also running her own two blogs. So we can say she is a quality content writer but still she is earning less because she working as a third party and the middleman took more money without work. So what can we do in this problem? Does he making us fool? Is there any sites from where she can start taking writing project on her own? Website for starter?
He is not making a fool of you people, he is doing what many other people do - using their expertise/contacts/resources to earn money, so he is in a position to outsource work (though at paltry rates). Yet Rs. 90 is somewhere around $2 which is more than most people would be willing to offer for 300 words on slave-labor driven sites like Freelancer.com . Yet, you can earn a little more EASILY on DP. So, if your friend has some decent writing skills, she can easily get lots of work at the BST section of DP . If she is really good, she can get higher rates. Also, you can advise her to read the posts (esp of dyadvisor and also of many other experienced members) and learn more about copywriting, content writing and SEO, so that she'd be in a better position to demand rates of her choice. There are several sites who can offer regular - decent paying work if the writer shows good writing and researching skills.
What are the URL's? I have several ideas and leads for her, but I am not going to pass them along to someone who cannot write. And I did not get what you were saying. ... How much in $ was she getting?
Ok.. I got your point. I will try to take writing projects from websites directly and also looking forward to use DO also. Hope we get some good projects from here.
What you both need to do --- in a nice way --- is to get off your butt! Never sit back and expect to have business come to you until you have built a proven reputation. The DP forum is more for exchanging ideas, viewpoints, and picking up tips. Almost everyone advertising on the DP forum for content writing is looking for slave labor rates. Just simply start searching blogs that have a theme you know something about. I have an opportunity to write for a blog that has 60,000 readers and I know the blog director. If I decide to write a few blogs for them, it would be for free. The name recognition and the mention of the website would bring more reward than money. So offer your services very inexpensive, build up writing ability, and when your reputation is established ask for decent rates. Blogs by the way, average paying 80% more than articles. -----get started with you sending emails (20 a day, offering services), a simple cut and paste. In almost any business a 1% to 2% response rate is normal ----- you control the future, do not let the future control you---------------
