A Good Way to Review a Product AND Collect Emails on One Page?

I'd like to start messing with email marketing, building trust, delivering quality, and a sales pitch from time to time somewhere down the line. I'd like to combine that on the same page as a page where I review a product in that niche, as well. Could anyone suggest a good way of going about doing this, or is this a mistake and I should focus on one versus the other?

Definitely NOT a mistake, but a major step in the right direction imo. Offer them something related to the niche, a free ebook, report, secret tips, discounts, insider info, "what they didn't want you to know" info, an info something exclusive, a "mini course", or even just breaking news, tips etc... ideally a few of these things, definitely something "FREE!"

Email marketing is amazing - but only really when you get to the larger numbers past a few thousand, although with just 1000 you can get some results and test things out

Well it would depend on which one you favored most (sending them to sales page or collecting email). Obviously if you want to collect the email you could have a pop-up or put the optin form as the first thing they see when they get on the page. If you want to send them to the sales page you have your normal review and then the "Click here to go to the page" link and then afterwards you have an optin form. The second option means the user will have read the review decided not to click the link then read your opt-in and has another decision.

The second is the one I will go with, if you are going for a combo, as you have two ways of snagging the visitor first sending him to the site and second grabbing his email

Of course I recommend just straight opt-in though as it is much easier to convert optins
