    Hi guys,

What can you do when you cannot keep adding page after page of good content.

When all you have is one page -- basicly a gimmick, and apart from that single page, no other pages are needed?

Is it possible to get a one page site to the top of google?

www.online-stopwatch.com ??? one page, one use. how can i get it in the top 10 on google?

    Cheers guys.

The only thing that comes to mind of what people use stopwatches for today is exercising (7 minutes to run a mile). I don't know of anything you are going to use a stopwatch for online. Maybe you could put a twist on it. Have different pages that say things like "The average person can drink a 12oz bottle of water in 15 seconds (not sure if that is true), how fast can you?". Basically try and make a game out of it. Just an idea. Cool stopwatch though.

Quick note: You may want to put a "Do at your own risk" label at the bottom. May save you troubles later on. ;)

There are some uses for a stopwatch in programming - for example when I need a quick way to see how fast some page is loading.

One thought comes to mind, promotion-wise - convert it to a Google Gadget, so people can run it from their customized home page:
    http://www.google.com/apis/homepage/

If Google adds your app to their list, I would expect usage to grow quickly.

There are stopwatches you can download to your computer. Ones that are not web based. Seems that actually may be a better fit for your page loading uses.

Another use could be a Dasboard Widget for Mac. May already be one though.

I dont really know what you mean here, sorry :(
I have a pack on my site, where users can download the stopwatch if they want.

ooo, i dont know about that, lol, i wouldnt know about making anything for a mac. -- in the download pack, the stopwatch is in mac format, but flash made it itself, so i dont know if it works.

Anyway mahno! thanks for the google gadget idea! i have made it, and it can be added to your homepages now :)

I've just asked on the gooogle forums how to make it so people can click just one button to install:

There are a lot of other websites that provide useful services and are one paged sites. Here are a few exaplmes:

    http://www.dead-links.com/
    http://www.checkpagerank.com/

The main thing about these sites/pages are that they are providing a useful service to the users. If users find it interesting, they'll bookmark the site and come back again and again to it.

I think links help a lot of these sites. You might want to put a little 'Link to This Site' thing on your home page.

Also, maybe you can provide a functionality and syndicate the tool to other sites 'Link to this Stipwatch' or 'Add a stopwatch on your site'.

    Good Luck with your site.

You have to remember that these are services that will be used for the purpose of the web. A stopwatch will not come in handy to most as those two sites will.

Really? Wow, I never would have guessed results like that. I would really love to know what uses they serve. I just can't think of anything I want to time while around my computer. Good luck to you.

PS: I hope those results do not include people looking for countdown addons for MySpace profiles. I see alot of people with those.

Make a projector file of your application that has a link to your website or advertising and have people downloadd it to use on their desktop.

I'm not sure? but it dosnt matter, as there are enough results for online stopwatch. online countdown timer, etc, etc.

lol, i dont think its a common thing, i've had to use it to time a presentation (the timer in powerpoint is crap), i've used it to do a few podcasts -- im sure the other people looking are doing stuff like that, but i guess i could ask them in a popup window or somthing;)

OH, here an actual use some people have used my site for:

There was a site that would only let you vote every 15mins, i found a backlink in my logs to online stopwatch were people where using it to keep voting britny their favorite artist every 15mins -- theres always a need for a stopwatch at some point ;)

I think i'll add a myspace profile countdown, i guess its somthing else for the site.

and bunnybling, cheers man, i've done that :) I think i need to make it more clear on the site though...

Interesting. I could see myself downloading a stopwatch that could fit under the address bar in my browser. It would be very convienient. Another thought. :)

Can you add an audio componet to the timer ending?

Here is another marketing thought for you. This would be very useful for web addicts that are cooking at the same time they are playing. You can't always hear the timer in the kitchen.

I have said many times to my wife that she needs a web based egg timer.

Got to have a audio alert though or force the time to the top browser position when the time is reached.
