I thought there was a difference between the sandbox and not being indexed? I thought that - if you're sandboxed - your site is indexed but appears way down?

I don't have the answer, but I like to share a similarity:

I have changed my template and updated all my site pages with this change. Next day, google dropped me out of page 1 to a place beyond page 20 (I never bothered to look further).
Odd thing is that since then (this all happened 2 weeks ago) Googles Webmaster Tools shows that I still rank within the first 10 for my targeted keywords. And this is daily updated.

Sandboxed? Who can explain the above.

Sandbox means if any one upload a new website , google never suddenly display thats particular website details on search results. Google take a certain time period for testing phase to display on results. This time period is known as Sandbox. In this time Google will check ur website is there any malware, virus, restricted products or contents... etc. Normaly a new website takes few weeks to few months in sandbox.

If u bookmark ur urls with digg like sites then ur website can shortly display on search results.

    Are You in the SandBox?

Google's spiders may pickup your site through an inbound link or you may have submitted your site to Google but almost all newly launched websites successfully get into the sandbox. Although there are some exceptions mostly all new sites are relegated to the sandbox for sometime.

But How do you know if your site is in the SandBox?

    * If the page is in the SandBox, Google doesn't give the page a pagerank
    * A "link:www.yourwebsite.com" or "site:www.yourwebsite.com" search on Google doesn't return any results. i.e Google doesn't show signs of any other websites linking to yours nor displays pages related to yours.
    * No pages other than your HomePage are listed. Sometimes even the homepage isn't listed.

Yes. Somebody should organise things so there are not duplicate threads. In any event, there is no authoritative and convincing argument emerging.

I'm glad somebody learned something. I'm confused. Perhaps there should be a way to identify the real experts on this forum, because their voices are being drowned out.

When you change your site and add more content, get more links, anything like that google needs time to digest the info so it will appear as if you have dropped in rank or are sandboxed. It will come back and when it does it is usually better. Also remember that every once in awhile google does its "dance" and everything flips around. Just wait it out. And as has been said in the previous posts, check your site at www.,yoursite.com in the google search. If you are missing, you are in trouble. I used to do alot of Evo and I was constantly disappearing so I just stopped watching and built more sites. :) It all worked its way out in the end.

No what I mean is that it looks like you are because it drops in rank or it isn't doing anything at all. It really isn't sandboxed, it is google re-analyzing it - thats all. I have known a few people to come out of the sandbox...never met anyone that got sandboxed twice! Think I would just build another site if that happened...lolol
