Guys, I am a web developer and I get several customers (ClickBank vendors) asking me to protect their Thank You pages (from being posted in forums and search engines). Based on ClickBank API, I recently protected download pages for a client. In the process, I also saw that many other vendors charging about $50 per month. I would say its a STEAL. How do you all protect your Thank You pages? Do you all really pay so much? If many people are interested, I can try to put up a simple mash-up that ANY clickbank vendor can use for free. Or does something like this already exist so I can save my time? Let me know guys. Cheers Manoj Kumar ClickBank Tools: www.lockdbank.com My business website: www.qwikisoft.com
Most vendors use the simple .html code to avoid their thank you pages from being indexed in the search engines. Naming your Thank You page something weird such as "XSecuredownload.html" or something similar is another secure way to protect your Thank You page, there's tons of script available at ridiculous prices and I don't see a solid reason to use them. As a conclusion -- as long as the Thank You page does not index in the search engines I don't see any insecurity. As long as the potential customer comes through an article, PPC ad, search engines and lands directly onto the sales page there's noting to worry about since they'll have order the product, don't they? If you can develop a script that can increase the security of our Thank You pages I would be delighted to see it and test it myself. Best Al.
Ok here we go... I am unable to post ClickBank API link but my tool is based on that. I have uploaded it but unable to post the link here. Is there any other way to post it? Hopefully, it should help ClickBank merchants!
Can somebody post this as a link please? I have uploaded the tool at www.lockdbank.com If you're liking it, I'll re-upload it in a better server and I promise that it will remain FREE forever as it is NOT going to take any big efforts from my end. I already have the script and server running for my other projects anyway. MODS: Please note that I am NOT trying to sell ANYTHING here. Its a free tool based on clickbank's API. I just hope that it benefits other clickbank merchants here.
@ findmanu's As long as it's a FREE tool I don't see a reason to NOT post the live link to your website. In the end it's a script that will help most vendors with Clickbank to secure their thank you pages. I'll have a look at it right away. Cheers Al.
Sure thing. It is indeed free and I have tried my best to make it as easy as possible even for non-technical vendors to use it. The ultimate goal was to make it a process similar to how Google Analytics code is pasted onto pages. Similarly, clickbank vendors should just past a 2-line code to their Thnk You pages. Excited to see the feedback.
@findmanu First I'd like to say thanks for the free service that you're offering. Other people charge as much as $499 for a similar service yet you're offering it for free. I have done all the steps however I don't exactly know where to paste the bit of code. Do I have to place it anywhere on the Thank You Page? Cheers Al.
hey precious007 You will jus need to paste it on top on your page (ThankYou page). I tried to elaborate process is mentioned in FAQ as well. And thats it. I hope it was simpler. Please let me know if you think any extra instructions would help people. Loving this approach!
Nice piece of idea Your code is purely PHP. I propose doing some javascript code to serve .htm or .html pages. This may also server asp and others. What do you think
@ homesure Thanks for the feedback. That was the original intention. However, unlike analytics, we will also need to redirect pages appropriately based on legitimacy of the sale. Hence I had to depend on the server side scripting. That way, thank you page will NEVER be loaded on user's PC if its an illegal download attempt. Instead, they will automatically be redirected to a "failure page" by the server. Also, regarding ASP pages, PHP code will work almost seamlessly in all ASP pages too. However, I'm also thinking to add ASP related snippets just incase of an issue for few. This will be added in the coming week.
Ic You know Clickbank passes some useful query string parameters to the download or thank you page that can be used somehow to validate the authenticity.
Ya ya exactly. This entire tool is based on those variables. The ClickBank API that you're talking about is here. However, I'm planning to build some additional services on this - like analytics, members area etc. So it makes it easier to process variables on server side. Over a period of time, it will be easy to how many illegal download attempts were made to your products and from where. I feel that such data would be very useful in making some important sales decisions All of this from a single interface
Thanks buddy. "precious007" has given some feedback abt few issues we encountered. I'm just testing it now. Will keep you all posted in a bit
Nothing personal Precious but that is a pathetic solution It just takes one unhappy customer or a pissed off competitor to post the download link area on blackhat forums and torrent sites etc... Check out this solution for some heightened security: http://drupal.org/project/clickbank_ipn
@macadu Pls correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't just a drupal plugin / module? How would they work on bespoke websites?
@ macadu I am pretty sure the competition has better things to do, apart from that as long as the customer doesn't land on your thank you page, since it's not indexed in the search engines I don't see anything to worry about. (just my opinion) I hope you get what I mean ... Nearly all products in Clickbank are on torrent sites, that if you didn't know yet. @findmanu Is the script fixed yet ? Al.
heya, just finished migration and it should be fine now. Play around www.lockdbank.com . Lemme know what u think!
Hey guys, I've just installed the code onto my Thank You Page and it works perfectly now... there have a few issues with the migration of the files, however everything is working perfectly now. I'd highly recommend the service to all vendors that are not securing their Thank You Pages yet - it's FREE as well. Thanks findmanu. Cheers Al.
