What issues can effect the ranking of a web site negatively. I'm taking guesses and start a list here. Please comment or add to that list!

    - young age of the web site.
    - Competitive keywords
    - not enough or powerless backlinks
    - bad neighborhood of backlinks
    - keyword stuffing
    - lacks/flaws in content
    - broken links on site

    Please comment and add!

A valid list. I think you could add that while site age is important, new sites generally have no problem ranking on non-competetive terms or even "slightly competetive". But jump into finance, gambling etc. and you'll be stuck in the sandbox for months or even years with a new site.

What do you mean by flaws and lacks in content? And I guess if someone is bought a new domain and developed a website it will surely be a new website...

If you want to go big within a reasonable time frame in competetive niches then I'd say the best option is to buy an older website (complete website, not just domain). Unfortunately you probably have to be richer than Trump to buy one.. :(

competitive keywords won't affect your site ranking negatively. It is just harder to move up ranking for them than the less competitive ones.

Another important thing...Directories submission are good to increase your page rank, as long as they look natural, but if you hire someone
to submit your site in more than 2000 directories within a month...my friend, that is a red flag for Google and they will sandbox your site,
can be temporally but it will hurt your site a lot....the damage is already done.

My advice, if you are planning to do this kind of things, just try to make it look natural for search engines, and you will be fine...

Are you sure that this will sandbox a site. Or will it just have no effect at all? I'm saying so, because I believed that google has a policy that off site SEO or activities can't harm you, unlike on site SEO.

I've seen an seo company obtain a pagerank of 2 in under 3 weeks, still don't know how they did it...On that note, I imagine that quality is more important than quantity for baby sites, so building to many links even in a short period of time can look spammy. Just a thought

Hello, an human can build alot of links, robots can do it too, the only difference is the quality of the links! for me, the main reason for getting sandboxed is the quality of links, so you can build alot of links in a short period of time, target for quality, not quantity, that's is the explanation for the fast results of that seo company... they now how to build backlinks and some inpage optimization

To the main post: Valid list, but forget about the age of the domain, google give some trust rank to aged domains, that's all! Bing seem's to give more importance to the age of the domain, not google
