I read somewhere that a domain needs to be at least 60days old in order for it to be transferred to another domain host, say like from GoDaddy to 1and1, right? Now I was wondering if the case is the same with same host transfer? Like a domain from one account in GoDaddy to another account in GoDaddy. Also, is it the same case with transferring a domain from WildWestDomains Reseller website like MadDogDomains to GoDaddy and vice versa? Sorry I'm quite new to this and I'm still figuring things out and thought if buying a domain and selling it within the week is possible given that both buyer and seller are using GoDaddy. Thanks
every domain registrar has 60 day restriction. you will need to wait for that time before you can transfer to anybody else
I asked godaddy about this. Here's what I wrote: "I've noticed when I'm transferring a domain or accepting a domain transfer, a little window pops up saying that godaddy reserves the right to reject all transfers for that domain for the next 60 days. Does this mean that I cannot sell a domain immediately after purchasing it? Do I have to wait 60 days to sell it because godaddy will reject the next transfer?" Godaddy's response: "The registry ICANN will not allow a domain to be transferred within 60 days of its registration or transfer. As a result, if you purchase a domain, you must wait 60 days to transfer it. I apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused. If you have any further questions, please email us back. " My question is: are there any registrars that let you transfer the domain without waiting 60 days, and if so, who are they?
If Icann have a rule against it then I doubt there are any registers who would allow it otherwise they are not following ICann rules.
yeah i guess all registrars are carrying a 60day restriction but what im asking specifically is an account change. a transfer of a domain from one account to another account within the same registrar (godaddy). im guessing these two are different the way an "Account Change" has its own FAQ area and a Domain Transfer has its own. ...except for kmap's AFAIK response specific to a GoDaddy account change, all others are simply answering the domain transfer? I hope somebody else can put light on this I've tried asking GoDaddy but no response yet >_<
Each domain name registrar may have own rules for the domain name transfers. If you doubt you may want to contact them directly and specify all details.
Yup thanks. I'm currently in the process of waiting a response from GoDaddy about this. I just thought that maybe I'd ask here too and maybe get a quick response that's 100% confirmed with lots of other confirmations from other users. Either way, I'll be posting up what I'll be able to know from GoDaddy
if transfered to another registrar, yes we have waiting for for about 60 days but if only transfered to another account with the same registrar we can called its "push" domain. and it can be done shortly,
Finally got a response from GoDaddy: So yes - a newly registered domain via GoDaddy can be moved/pushed/account changed into another GoDaddy account. kmap was right . Thanks fellas hope that answered the question clearly for all others wanting to know about newly registered domains and account change.
Okay what about a domain that has just been transferred to you within godaddy, can you transfer it to someone else within godaddy? I'm not talking about a newly registered domain, but one that I bought from someone else that has been transferred to me.
Did you mean if you can perform an account change if a domain has been transferred from another registrar into GoDaddy? Accdg to GoDaddy, Yes. However, each time you perform an account change, you must agree not to transfer away from GoDaddy for 60 days.
I think what I'm talking about is a "push". I guess you can "push" the domain to another godaddy account at any time, but you can only transfer it to a new registrar (like Moniker) after 60 days. I just found out that "push" and "transfer" are two different things. Sorry didn't mean to take over your thread. Maybe I should post a new one.
yeah i believe 'push' is the term for that (account change) and what you said is basically what i posted - you can push a newly transferred domain from another registrar to GoDaddy to another GoDaddy account anytime. But considering that a domain transfer was done, you can't transfer that domain to a registrar out of GoDaddy for 60days. It's ok I'm thinkin it's pretty much a related case
That's a relief. I was buying domains off ebay and then I was worried I would have to hold onto them for two months before selling them....
