    I use Rank Alert & it is reporting backlink changes to all of my sites every hour. A lot of the time going from zero to 100's or thousands every hour. Therefore, I feel Google update backlinks all the time.

    Yepp!! I am myself amazed with the variation of backlinks in Google in a single hour..

    I too use this tool and I get 100s of mail everyday...
