Verifying websites visitors to advertise or not

I am planning on advertising on graciemag.com and on their website they claim they had 611,161 visitors in the month of February 2010. I would like to verify this from a reliable source if what they are saying is true, how can I do this?

Check out their Alexa ranking at Alexa.com. Their current rank is 82,482 which makes me believe that they are getting that kind of traffic.

So you are saying what they claim is true?

Yes, I believe what they are saying in terms of traffic is accurate.

According to Compete and QuantCast.com, this site has, roughly, around 10,000 visitors a month.

Of course these two sites are not accurate, but it puts you in the parking lot of the ballpark.

No, this site is not doing that amount. Not even close.

Maybe that is what it did in Feb., but not now.

It is probably less than 50,000 (around a 1,000 a day) a month.

But that's not to say that your ad won't work there.

    Perry,

Obviously you know more about this than I do, however, I have a site with an Alexa Ranking around 875,000 and I'm getting over 24,000 uniques per month. I haven't joined either of these 2 sites but for a test try to determine the traffic for narutowallpapers.info

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Submission,

After doing some research on my own I have to agree with Perry that graciemag.com was not getting 611,161 in Feb. 2010. I learned some good information tonight on how to verify monthly site traffic. From my testing of one of my high traffic sites, I can see that compete.com is showing about one quarter of the unique traffic that my site is getting.

Even if they were quoting you page impressions that number seems impossible to arrive at realistically.

Yes, They are getting traffic. They have good back-links on some of good sites where they are earning traffic.

Yes, they are doing fine in terms of traffic with their alexa ranking currently at 83, 138. It's worth your investment I believe

Alexa ranking is pretty meaningless until you get in the top 5k. Other than that, I've seen Alexa sites get little to no traffic and have a great ranking. It's easily gamed/influenced. I think semrush is also a great tool to check their traffic. Ask to have access to their analytics account if you are serious about paying big $$ for advertising.
