So it's been a month since my blog has been up and i received a total of 500 visits. Most of it from referring sites, and a very small fraction from search engines. is that a good result?
Definitely write some articles and include your keywords in the article and the title of the article. Be sure to use keywords in the blog description. Good Luck, Clare1956
Not bad but you good see that number go through the roof if you start using some of the big social networks out there. Also, try submitting your content to bookmarking sites like Digg, Reddit etc.
Can I ask what your goal is with the blog. If you are doing this to learn more and have fun, a general blog is ok, and there are many techniques to try. If you have this blog to try and earn money off the net, a different set of decisions needs to be made, sometimes even the tools you should use changes. Let us know.
Until you have an insane following good luck on charging for your advice / secrets. If it's good content then don't worry about the money, it will come sooner than later. I know it sounds like the same old advise, but building a lot of great content is the only way to go to be successful. Good luck
Well done. It is a good result for the first month and no advertising budget. Who sent you the most traffic? Blog directories or social sites? I can see that you still haven't been indexed by Bing? Did you install the Sitemap Plugin for WP? Check this and submit your feed http://www.bing.com/webmaster Bing is being quite kind to the blogs lately. The only challenge is to get indexed
well my hope ultimately is to earn some money. At first i just want people reading my stuff and opinion. After a few months i would like to see some cashflow here and there. What kind of tools did you have in mind?
