High PR for Sitemap

How do you think does it make sence to try to make PR of sitemap higher. Could it leads to higher PR of internal pages?

    Thanks!

Good reply :) Green added. In theoretically it should but in practically it wouldn't. Most of sitemap page, or even in XML format, are only a bunch of links with less or no real content on the page. Even it has a lot of links pointing toward it but with no content and only internal linking then this page may not has much value from Google perspective anyway.

While talking about some well organized websites, even if the sitemap pages have some high PR values, the homepages too would benefit in the long term because the internal links would pass the links juices. It has been seen that at some points when a lot of links are added to the inner pages of websites, their PR could even be higher than the homepages scores.

I don't think that is worth to try to increase the PR for the sitemap of your site. You can try to increase the PR for some important pages from your site. The sitemap is only a collection of links.

Site maps are in xml format, mainly to help with indexing of pages. I don't think get any pr even within high pr sites, therefore they will not pass pr juice.

Sitemap is used to to help SE indexes the inner structure of your blog. Interesting point of view as they are links and can work as you mention but with too many links do you think the PR would have a significant effect?

Sitemaps can be both xml as well as html. XML ones for search engines and HTML one for the users.

if you happen to get the pr up on your sitemap, it would essentially drain that link juice to all of the links in that sitemap. so in essence many links in there that don't need the link juice will get the link juice. i wouldn't concentrate on creating hi pr for sitemaps. since the link juice will pass to all pages, it would make more sense creating link backs for individual pages and would require less link creation as it wont bleed out like on a sitemap

For a html sitemap pages, yes. But for an XML format sitemap, I don't think so. The purpose of an XML format sitemap is just to help search engines crawl every pages in our sites. It does not contain proper interface of linking code.

I created my html sitemap for my users, not for Google and its PR. The sitemap has a PR3.
