I run a Vbulletin forum site which is getting popular now and with good traffic i started getting lots of spam... some of the user started creating new threads which are taking my site traffic to there site. I am trying to monitor it but I can not do that whole day. I even changed setting for "Can Post Threads to NO" in Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Registered Users, so that new users can not post threads. But I don't think its working.... Can some one help me with this matter, I am even ready to pay for your services [You should have good experiance with managing Big Vbulletin forum sites].
Thanks for reply shawn, Actually I do not have any moderators. I am the only one managing it [I was sufficient as was not getting spams earlier]. I did some more google search and installed vbulletin hack called "monkeystop" which should work for me fine. Thanks a lot.
I have same problem. Using reCAPTCHAâ„¢ and activating e-mail verification should stop the bots from registering new accounts. If that's not enough...you'll need moderators
As I am not very familiar with this Moderation stuff, Can you tell me how this works? Do we need to pay moderators? Why they will work for my site ?
They will unless you hire them, you can pay them or not! Up to you, if your site is very inactive the moderators are most likely to be inactive too.
it easy to manage in vb 4 admincp >option > spam management > Anti-Spam Service> Choose akismet > Register in http://akismet.com/ > and take API keys from akismet > pest api key in vBulletin Anti-Spam Key. > set value 1 in Spam Scanning Post Threshold.
One of the best mods out there. Since I installed it on a couple of my forums, I have never had an issue with spammers.
