    What's best for SEO?

    big-red-dog.com
    bigreddog.net

    (bigreddog.com is not available)
    (hypothetical example)

Point being, question is whether to buy the .com of your actual keywords but with hyphens... or your actual keywords as a .net.

It's hard to rank on G with "-" in the name... even if it's an exact match.

bigreddog.net is much better than big-red-dog.com
Personally I would never get a domain name with two dashes ("-") in it.

The only problem with bigreddog.net is that the .com is taken so you could loose traffic as people type in the name and automatically slap in the .com, however, as the other posters already stated, twin - just don't work.

Dang, I didn't know a hyphen or hyphens is so bad. I thought it could be okay. I just created a site with two hyphens. I guess I won't spend any more time on that one.

.com wins over .net in search engines. plenty of folks will tell you that it doesn't matter. even the search engines will tell you this, but you can take their advice, or listen to me.

    .com over .net

    Avoid hyphens.

Try .org if your site is infomational enough.

I do not think the extensions .com and .net have any difference in SEO. I think its just how you seem to advertise and create backlinks for the site :)
