Yes moving to vBulletin is yet the greatest idea for non-vbulletin forum owners.

There are alot of advantages with this software, the best mods, great skins, themes, and many more stuff. This software is too good.

    Being directly: Yes.

Is the best forum software. You will have a lot of advantages, design, coding, secure, clean code, etc. :D

Definitely recommend you vB over any forum software.

IP.Board is far better than vBulletin. It has a lot more QUALITY skins also.

If you read the Pre-Sales boards on both company's websites, you will see that most people are moving from vB to IPB, rather than the opposite. vBulletin 4.x is garbage, you'd be making a good decision. IPB is amazing, I use it on two forums, more to come :)

Definitely move to IPB. It's much more efficient and has a wonderful, modernized Admin Control Panel. At first, I had trouble when I upgraded to 2.3, but I transitioned very quickly with the Admin CP live search. Their support staff is amazing as well (usually, they prefer to fix your problem for you and tell you what to do to fix it next time). They'll help you convert and redirect your vBulletin (or even vBSEO) URLs to IPB's. 3.1 is going to be amazing. While vBulletin is finally waking up and adding Facebook Connect, IPB is improving its own version of Facebook Connect and implementing the Twitter equivalent as well.

Wow, we really have a great consensus here don't we XD

My forum is on SMF. It's free and has a lot of great features which are also free. My forum's skin is custom designed by me, meaning you could probably design your own too XD

The conversions from vBulletin to IPB have been tremendous after the December Price Increase. vBulletin will never recover from the entire Jelsoft team leaving them. Kier Darby's new project will take away the rest of vBulletin's base.

I can't speak from experience as I only host my own forum with SMF, but at its current size it does not seem to have issues pertaining to being too big for its britches or anything. If you're interested but not sure, I'd check out SMF's community forum and just ask honest questions there. Best to get all the info you can before jumping in.
