I have a health site I've recently established. I'm very well informed on the topic, so I've got some unique juicy articles on the site. However, I need some more exposure. How would I go about getting some of that? Right now I'm spending lots of my time developing a good social network using social networking sites. I know there has to be a better way though. Should I just keep writing more articles and wait for Google to make the site shine? Thanks everyone for you time. Site is http://www.healthwellness.info/
When you say you are developing a good social network using social network sites, what exactly are you doing to develop this network? What kind of practices are you using to interact with others on these social networks. I would say the way to promote a health website is no different from promoting anything other type of website. Writing articles that link back to your site, joining health forums, press releases ect. I have had great success writing for hubpages, squidoo and then linking back to your original cotent at healthwellness. Have you created a facebook fan page or facebook group or joined other groups or added people to your friends list who are apart of other health groups online?
Yes, the way to promote a health website is no different from promoting anything other type of website. But you'd better find more health website
Health website promotion is not easy for so many health sites exist on the web and the ppc keywords are expensive. Maybe blog comments and article submitting are the choices.
Open a Twitter account with followers on the same niche, interact with them as often as you should then post your website. If you have a good relationship built with them, they will retweet your site, increasing the site exposure which can be helpful in promoting your website.
Have you tried writing articles for ezine owners instead of article directories? That is a highly targeted method. Just do a search in Google for "[your niche] ezine" and contact the owners and ask if they accept free original articles. A lot of them do.
Just try to do promote it with forums posting, use adword campaign, social bookmarking submitting, article marketing. Those are the best way if you want to expose your site to your audience.
I think that you should look into paid advertising. If you're a health website, you can find a company (like us, haha, the plug is to easy, i'm sorry jcartermarketing.wordpress.com) who would create a marketing plan for you. We'd probably set you up as advertising on news websites, specifically under their health sections. I mean imagine all the impressions a day you could be raking in.
A very competitive niche it has to be said. Articles are a good way to promote - think about offline marketing also. People in gyms may be interested. magazine inserts perhaps - these are surprisingly cheap and VERY targetted.
Health is a big niche - are you talking about weight loss, exercise, medications, a specific condition? Is it possible that there are communities out there for people who have the condition your site is about (or are trying to lose weight, or engaging in the healthy activity you're promoting)? If so, joining those communities and carefully marketing yourself as an expert could work as a method of promotion. It's time consuming, but it will bring quality traffic.
Health can be a tough niche. If you really want to rank high, article submission in good quantities to the high PR directories is the way to go.
You have to promote it in adult sites (porn video), after watching video people will realize they are not healthty or strong enpugh to practice what they have seen.
yessica, I just wanted you to know that your reply to this post has me on the floor laughing. LOL!!! It's so funny that it just might work...
Health is a universal niche so article writing can be a big help, then start bookmarking your articles to high PR bookmarking sites such as Digg and Stumbleupon. Use Twitter too, there are lots of Twitter account related to health there, you can interact with them then eventually you can ask them to promote your site too as a favor, then do the same for them.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Right now I've decided to invest my time into article marketing and building more content for the site. My goal at the moment is to get as much exposure as possible with long term results. I'm very well educated in my topic and I also enjoy teaching others, so I'm pretty confident I can succeed. @yessica Exactly.
