Arizona and the new law around "suspected illegal immigrants"

    hello everyone,

i am from chicago and find this kinda weird. how can the government possibly track illegal immigrants this way?...

many and i mean many undocumented immigrants carry fake IDs from a neighboring state.

this could actually create passive discrimination: anyone who is a little colored, unshaven and not necessarily well-dressed could be a suspect...kinda ridiculous for a state that's been known to be home of a diverse community!

    any comment?

No, they are not just stopping people because they "look" illegal. There is a lot of misunderstanding about this, you can read 1070 here.

Some Hispanics have light skin, and some illegal immigrants aren’t Hispanic at all and may come from a variety of national and ethnic backgrounds.

First of all Government at all levels should begin targeting American employers. Why Employers who demanded immigrant labour are not held to account for this?

Referendum requires filing 76,682 voter signatures by 90 days. But Still at most of online polls people support the Law http://immigration.civiltalks.com/

You can influence the law by simple VOTE

Try traveling abroad without your "papers" and overstaying your VISA. You'll find your ass being deported on your first traffic violation. The only people trying to make this bill into a racial thing are those who profit from illegal immigration. BTW, I agree they should ALSO punish employers who hire them. The Arizona bill has the overwhelming support of the American people and there are already many movements afoot to boycott those who boycott. Right now, there is a large movement underway to vote out every last Los Angeles councilman who voted in favor of the Arizona Boycott. An LA Times Online poll, puts less than 6% of it's readers in favor of the boycott. Election day is coming, and it is going to be a blood bath.

It already does. The Arizona law mirrors federal law. The problem is the lack of federal law enforcement. Now that it is a state law, state law enforcement can deal with the issue. Its ironic and sad to watch Obama's attorney general talk about bringing suit against Arizona for doing the job he refuses to do. Either enforce the law or change it and open the borders. It isn't complicated.

Even more hypocritical, when Napolitano was the Gov. of Arizona, she blasted the federal government for failure to enforce the border. She went so far as to ask the Federal Government for large financial restitution for expenses incurred by Arizona while having to do the Federal Govt's job. Of course now that Napolitano IS the federal government, she has denied every similar petition put forward by Arizona. These people make Carter look competent.

The city of Albuquerque recently enacted a similar law. Well, the law was actually passed in 2009, they just haven't been enforcing it until now. And it's something they already should be doing. If you are arrested in Albuquerque, everyone is to have their fingerprints ran through the National Database (we are slow here, should have already been done) and every single person will have their immigration status verified. Everyone for any offense will be screened. That way, nobody can claim any racial profiling. If you are found to be illegal and breaking the law, bye bye, back to your country you go.

Governor Richardson is fuming over this. He made New Mexico a haven state for illegals. He provides them with healthcare, welfare, and even driver's licenses. All paid for by the LEGAL taxpayers...

Mayor Berry had enough of the free giveaways for people breaking the law and is trying to put a stop to it. Good for him! 5 illegal immigrants have been caught in less than a week and sent packing!

This story just gets better and better. For the longest time, the Federal Government has made excuses for not fulfilling its obligation to enforce the borders. Usually, the story has been that the I.C.E. budget was not big enough to properly police the borders, prevent the thousands of illegal immigrants, and deport illegals. It has been common knowledge that I.C.E does not deport all of the illegal immigrants it finds, though the media doesn't give it too much coverage.

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2008955540_apworksiteraid.html

Now, under the Obama admin, I.C.E. officials are signaling that they may not process illegal aliens turned over to them by Arizona. Obama has not wanted to push his amnesty plans this election year, since his numbers are already tanking. He'd much rather deal with wallstreet reform, which actually has populist support. Now that I.C.E. is making it clear they may not do their duties based on political bias and pressure from the Obama admin, it is starting to appear that we don't live in a nation of laws after all. The message is, if it doesn't suit your politics or might damage your party, the law can be disregarded(Charlie Rangle). If you don't like the law, have the political sack to try and CHANGE IT! Until then, DO YOUR JOB!! If I.C.E. fails to deport illegal aliens that are gift wrapped and dropped off at their door step, we need to save the taxpayers money by firing the people at ICE who we are obviously paying for no reason(Starting at the top).

On the one hand, Two presidents Obama-Calderon oppose the law suggesting new reforms. Obama still needs support from opposition Republicans.
On the other hand the Support For Arizona's Immigration Law Continues to Grow.
Do you think the situation can change?
