I found some interesting contents on blogs and I want to add these contents to my blog, If I use RSS feed to add these contents to my blog will my blog is penalized for duplicate content. What is the best way to get other blog contents to my own blog with out penalized for duplicate content?
Duplicate content penalty applies only when you post the same content many times in the same website. It does not apply to posting the same article to different websites. You can use RSS feeds, provided that you keep all the links to the original source.
Why not write your own content? Then you dont have to worry about a "Duplicate Content Penalty". With the time and effort your putting into trying to copy other content, you could be writing your own stuff.
There is no best way. Nothing wrong with using RSS feeds for ADDITIONAL content, but content from other blogs is not just there for you to take what ever you feel, just because you want it. I agree, by now you could have written your own articles about what you have found. That's the best way to avoid any penalties...write your own stuff.
there is nothing wrong in taking articles/contents from other sites as long as you give the original site due credit (if in doubt ask the owner). And that credit should be given by adding a small section in header or footer and saying 2 or 3 small sentences about the original source of the content. That way you are helping that site owner and google search engines understands that - that's is what read in a book recently. Also that is how Articles directories operate, you can take artcles from those directories as long as you give them and authors due credits. So it really is not duplicate content and it is actually a good SEO work for the original content owner.
ya if you use rss feed to post article, it will be illegal. If u are using wp, there are so many article re-writer plugins. You can use that to rewrite it but it will not give you 100% satisfication.
What book did you get this BS from? There is absolutely something wrong with taking articles from someone else's site. You don't have permission to do that. You can't just take people stuff off of the internet because you want it. Are you kidding me? We aren't talking about article directories, or sites that offer content under Creative Commons AND state that the content is free to use and distribute. Those are special circumstances. We are talking about regular websites. It is not how the web works. It's not Good SEO It's not helping the author. It's plain copy write infringement and plagiarism. Where ever you heard this information, you should really stop trusting that source, they are going to get you sued, or worse.
OK, agreed with hmansfield. Simply copying content from other blogs will be plain copyright violations. But if those blogs do have copyright notices like "Creative Commons"/"Some rights reserved" then it will be possible to get content from those blog after, of course, asking the owners if that should be OK. Agreed basically my idea was too much based towards Article directories and that is why I said it is going to be good SEO work for the author. As in article directories if you write an article and that is published by many article directories/blogs then that will be deemed good seo. But if Intizam is really interested about that particular article, then I suggest to contact the owner of that blog and ask for permission to re-publish that article with all due credits of course. If I am the original owner then I'll be quite happy to give permission to republish my article - as that will give more visitors for free.
OK, much better. Some will give you permission, but in the case of news agencies and magazines, they will almost never give you permission and in most cases will sue you for republishing articles. There are other instances where you can get content that is OK to republish: Press Releases and Promotional copy is always a good one. They do want those republished, just make sure that you have the actual Press Release and not an article about the release.
Unless you site is the same as the one you are getting the content from don't worry. Duplicate Content Penalty is a mith.
Its much better if you will write your own article, to avoid duplicate content just send a link to the other website and let your readers read it there.
There is no penalty for duplicate content...Matt Cutts from Google said this some time ago in a video
There are people who have been boosting cars for years and never had any problems. Stealing cars -- and stealing content -- is still wrong. I also agree that the duplicate content penalty is a myth. Google doesn't penalize you for having duplicate content -- it simply doesn't index all of the same stuff. Google will pick one version to show. That said, if Google determines that you're trying to manipulate your rankings, they will take action: In short, Google doesn't just penalize you because you have duplicate content. They penalize you for trying to manipulate them. Don't do that and you should be fine.
When properly implemented, magento has very little in the way of duplicate content. As for the example listed above, simply do not use categories the url.
