We are looking for a graphic artist to whip up a red toolbox that has some 3D glasses in it. Must have a clean, modern look and must be done in photoshop. Needs to be very large, about 2000 pixels wide should be good. This way we can make it any size we need and not loose quality.

Watermark it and send it to us to take a look. Also send your price that you want for it. Once we pick the one that we want, we will pay you in exchange for your psd file.

Don't contact me if your just going to find a picture of a toolbox and toss some other things on it. We are looking for something original, creative and made by an artist. No real photographs please.

So is this a contest where you will be picking a winner or are you going to choose someone for the job?

I will choose the best one sent to me. The watermarked sample doesn't have to be 100% perfected until after I pick you. Then I will pay you and you will provide a PSD file.
I just can't make a decision based on portfolio, I want to see what I'm buying first.

This kind of attitude is unfair to the designer. And I doubt you'll find anyone willing to work on such unfair terms.

This is not a new concept. It's been done at crowdspring.com for years. Everyone makes the art and the purchaser buys the one they like best.
It's defiantly worth the work when one of your pieces are purchased. If no one wanted to do it then I wouldn't be getting submissions already.

Agreed. Good designers do not work under those ridiculous terms for the chance they may be paid.

Emphasis on *good*. When someone throws a "contest" like this, it's obvious he's looking for a crappy job. Crappy designers answer, so everyone's happy :p.

I've been a member of crowdspring for some time and have had 100's of submissions of very high quality art. Normally I pay between $600 and $1500 depending on what's involved. I thought I would give this website a shot because I heard there may be some talented individuals here as well. Obviously, you are saying that the people on this website are not talented and that I should just stick to crowdspring.

I'm not asking for you to produce a high quality piece of work without being hired. I'm asking for a sample before I make a decision. A watermarked sample. Throw your idea together and send it to me. When I make the decision, I will hire you to do the job at the price that you want. It's not hard to understand. Everyone else has had no problems understanding this and have submitted some good material. Perhaps you should venture out in the world once and a while and see what is happening around you.
