Those do help, but most importantly get your backlinks and website popularity up within other websites. This will grow and search engines will love this. Think external rather than internal. If they can't find you out there, whose going to find you?
I say just keep doing the same things that got you there. They worked, right? Whatever those things may be, if you're on top now you got a formula that works!
I personally think SEO is an ongoing process. Truth is there are way too many people competing for that #1 spot in ANY niche. Therefore if you stop your efforts, others will pass you by. It's that simple. First of all, remove advertising? That makes NO SENSE whatsoever. And what does Conversion rates have to do with maintaining SERPS? Finally if you want to advertise your service or Blog for that matter, go to the CORRECT part of the forum. This part is for discussion of ideas, collaborations and more, not for posting a link. That is what your signature is there for.
Seoblore, what is your motivation in doing the first 5 steps? Are you afraid of google's assessors that constantly check out the first results for different keywords? For SEO purpose, these steps would not give you any gain.
I strongly disagree that remove advertisement temporally will helps on SERP. Advertisement doesnt affect the SERP if your content is good enough
I agree. Advertisement has nothing to do with SERP. The only thing I can think of is maybe you will make visitors more happy leading to increased traffic and backlinks. Pretty much when you are #1 though its BACKLINKS BACKLINKS BACKLINKS BACKLINKS. If you aren't properly using title and meta tags already, you probably aren't #1 lol.
When my site reach the top I will just maintain its position but not removing my ads so it will earn. For me if I remove the ads it can be useless.
In my opinion, just keep building backlinks, do it with another ( maybe less than before) because you are in No1 already. For sure stop your SEO effort will make you lose your position. I agree remove advertising is not a good thing to talk about in this topic.

Exactly. There is no reason to remove your advertisements, and stop anything. If what you have done got your site to a 1st page listing, than keep doing it. If you stop, some other competitor will just pass you up. Right suggestion. 1. Perhaps one of the best suggestion to stay on tops is to reduce link building. You are already rank 1 and if you continue the same amount of link building then it might cause negative effect. 2. Since you are the number 1 on the first page, then its time to compete with other keywords. Now the question is will you target the same page with the same keywords?
If the link building got you up there in the first place {that's the hard part right?} why would continuing the links then send it back down?

In my own experiences, keeping your site up-to-date with keyword oriented fresh contents and build more backlinks using your targeted keywords would be necessary for keeping high ranking purpose.
