I have Wordpress MU installed in a separate directory.

    http://www.site.com/wpmu/

I have enabled wildcard subdomains and that is working fine, but the individual blogs have the "/wpmu/" in the address.

    http://subdomain.site.com/wpmu/

Is there a way that I can use htaccess to check if the subdomain has the "/wpmu/" and then hide it?

What do you mean by "subdomain has the /wpmu/"?

do you mean you want /wpmu/ to be the default dir for subdomain.site.com?

No, I actually want to "hide" the /wpmu/ part of the URL.

Since I didn't install Wordpress MU in the root directory of the site, every blog that is created has "/wpmu/" after it.

    http://subdomain.domain.com/wpmu/

I thought I could use htaccess to check to see if the subdomain address has that "/wpmu/", then it could hide it. I have subdomains that are static and don't contain "/wpmu/" in the URL.

    Does that make sense?

basically, from what your telling me, you want to the sub.domain.tld to basically be sub.domain.tld/wpmu/ and the only way to do that is put wpmu in the root dir for the sub.domain.tld
