Hi all, I am thinking about joining Amazon Associates and I want to do it right. I understand one can get rejected and I want to make it in, in first round. I understand that Amazon is interested in seeing my domain before they approve. What do they actually look for? 1. Will an empty domain (no content) be enough? 2. Are they interested to see how I market stuff? 3. Is the domain name structure important to them? - At the moment (started only 2 weeks ago) I am using a free domain just to learn how stuff works. Does Amazon look for top level domains? i.e. www.myDomain.com and forbids www.forum.myDomain.com... www.blog.myDomain.com etc? Any other tips you could give me for a smooth joining their program?
From what I've heard (although I haven't tested it) you can get accepted into Amazon's program with something like a Squidoo lens or Hub on Hubpages. It's not supposed to be difficult to get accepted into like some CPA networks are. Not saying you have to use a lens or hub, but that's apparently how easy it is.
I have had customers register Amazon accounts without a website. Just make sure anything you enter has good spelling and grammar, but I suspect most of the applications are automated.
Thank you J1218 and freshdevelopment, after reading both your responses I am somewhat relaxed - I have a lens at Squidoo and an article on a site I created (WordPress) and I got good feedback on them. So I guess I will try it with one of them. I would have sent you a link so you can maybe tell me what you think about what I wrote, but I can't yet post links on this forum as I am too new. I know that affiliates never show their sites to anyone but I am just beginning and I am interested to know what someone with more experience would think about it. Maybe one day soon
yeah... amazon isn't real selective although you want to read over their terms especially "identifying yourself as an associate" or they will shut you down quick.
My account just approved by amazon. i would suggest provide a details description on your website and how will you advertise it. I got rejected once b4 and their reason is amazon don't accept pay traffic or redirect traffic. so better not mentioned this.
I haven't heard of anyone having much problem being accepted. I was accepted before I even had content on my website.
I read all kind of things - not necessary about Amazon that made me a bit shaky. I guess I was over reacting over it instead of just going ahead and trying. I simply want to make it through in my first "run". Don't want to get rejected and have to start all over again. Thank you for the information
You can use free blog for apply Amazon Association. And if you want to register new domain don't use word of Amazon
I just received the following notice: "Congratulations, your application to the Amazon.com Associates Program has been approved." Thank you for all for your calming responses!
Now go get some of those sales! Hunt them, chase them, do what ever it takes (as long as it's legal and acceptable under TOS) to get them in the door, then ship them off to Amazon and make the sale. You can easily follow your sales progress via the completely free program down in my signature.
It means don't use amazon or something very similar in your domain name, such as amazan. If so they'll close your account.
Ahhh... now I understand what you mean. Sure - I will never register a domain containing the Amazon's name: 1. It is forbidden by Amazon. 2. It is as not original as one can get. 3. It looks like something very not creative. It reminds me that when I was a kid I once bought a small bag from the company famous "MIKE". I didn't even notice it until I came home. Finally as the logo was printed on the bag my brother suggested we just peal off the "M" and make it into an "N" - that worked rather fine... I registered my own domain with names fitting to my own niches - I think that is a better idea than having a domain name called Ambazon.com
