    Hi,
I am facing some performance issues with my site and getting suspended frequently.
Please see my website stats below.

Current CPU Usage (as mentioned by current host who suspended me)
    Top Process %CPU 29.0
    Top Process %CPU 28.0
    Top Process %CPU 27.0

    Page Views per day: 50,000 (50 K)
    Unique users per day: 25,000 (20 K)
Total posts in my website: 5000

It will be really great if you suggest me where to go (Normal host or VPS or Dedicated server) and with what kind of space/bandwidth/RAM I may need for me.

Thanks and quick respose will be very much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Abhi.

If you are using that can't of CPU on a large shared server, you will either need a big VPS or dedicated server. Don't go for a small cheap VPS, you will not be happy with the performance.

    abhi786,

Sounds like you may be running heavy SQL processing and your bottleneck could be disk IO issue that is causing high CPU usage. As seen from your previous post, you have the intention to consider Hostmonster or Justhost from BlueHost. I would say that their environment is not suitable for the kind of site you are hosting, and I suggest that you should be looking for VPS running with SAS Raid 10. Do not go with VPS that run on SATA harddisk, based on your usage, that is definitely not suitable for it. The flexibility about VPS is scalability. If you need more system resources, you can upgrade easily without much interference.

I can't suggest what kind of storage/bandwidth is good for your site, but you can see your stats from your control panel on the usage.

Get a VPS from quality providers like Futurehosting, knownhost, Wiredtree... Go for at least 768MB Ram. Their VPS servers are much more powerful than most other out there. You will be happy with them.

What do you run? Is it a forum? 25,000 unique visitors a day will always cause high cpu usage. The VPS may be the best solution for such resources-heavy scripts.

    Thanks for all your suggestions.
I am Okay to use dedicated server. But with my traffic and content, I will not be getting that much revenue to pay for the dedicated servers. Even I may need to pay from my pocket.
I will go for some VPS. Please suggest where can I get better VPS.
Mine is blog only. Just Wordpress blog.

Can you suggest whether 256M plan will be suffice for my requirements?

I will classify inmotionhosting under BlueHost/HostMonster category, massive overselling. 256MB is certainly not enough to run cPanel efficiently, and your bottleneck should be disk IO issue. Recommendation is to go towards a VPS provider that has SAS Raid-10 harddisk with at least 768MB ram, if it is not enough, you can upgrade easily. Fastian has some good suggestions -> FutureHosting, KnownHost and WiredTree. All three are certainly the top VPS providers for your needs.

I am not able to get SAS Raid-10 harddisk

Will this be good from godaddy?

    • OS: Linux CentOS
    • RAM: 2 GB
    • Storage: 30 GB
    • Bandwidth: 1,000 GB/mo

Is it a wordpress blog?? Are you using WP-Super-Cache or similar plugin??
A wordpress based blog will with Cache enabled will not cause that much CPU usage.

And as I suggested, go for atleast 768 MB RAM vps if you plan on using cPanel. If you use DirectAdmin, then you can also use 512 MB RAM.
But more importantly, you will need to optimize your apache and mysql according to your needs. And only decent managed host will do that ina proper way.

Go with a hosting specialist. Godaddy is more towards domain service.

    FutureHosting, KnownHost, WiredTree - Yes
    SingleHop doesn't provide VPS.

VPS can be as powerful as a low end dedicated server if you choose the right specs with more or less the same price. Low end dedicated server does not provide the required redundancy you need and usually come with 1 x IDE/SATA drive, while a good VPS provider has 4 x SCSI/SAS Raid 10 hot swappable drives. If I were you, I would send a livechat/email requests to the 3 VPS providers to let them understand your needs.

You certainly miss something. You need a coupon :)

I believe that you went for Elite VPS without any control panel. If you need a control panel, it will be around US$69.95/month. Use this coupon "CSO", you will get
    1650GB bandwidth
    1.5GB Ram
    a 40% lifetime discount

I do not believe coupon code will solve the problem of high CPU load.
