Some while ago, a friend of mine asked me to help him promote a webinar over the Content Management Systems (CMS) that will be held on May 20th . The webinar is addressing to business or organizational leader, technology team leader, or anyone else trying to figure out how to get the most power, flexibility, and value out of their website or web application. I started promote this webinar over some related groups on Social Media websites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or Xing. I also issued some press releases to announce this event. Still, some very few people attended to it. Although the webinar is debating a very interesting subject people seems to avoid attending to it. Could it be because of the link I have used or the information provided? What do you think is the best channel to promote this kind of events? What is the average number of participants to a such event? What is the best formula to attract participants to a webinar like the one I have described? Please help me with your opinion ! All the best, Nick
The best way to promote a webinar is to do a joint venture with someone who has an email list. Offer to promote there products on your webinar.
Nick, I faced a similar issue myself. I was about to start promoting an upcoming webinar when I attended two other webinars. One had 1000+ people attending, the other, about 25. The difference I found was the fact the one of them invited the people that had big lists to participate as presenters during the webinar. They were excited about the chance to participate, and in turn told their lists and blog readers about the event without even being asked to. I guess the short answer is, if you want your webinar to succeed and you don't have the resources to promote it yourself, invite people with the resources you need to participate and they will promote it without you having to ask (although you may want to anyways .
Thanks for your advise greg...But, as I was saying...the webinar will be held on Thursday...so there is not too much time left
There's not much you can do in such a short timeframe. The only thing that I can suggest is to use classifieds - post on Craigslist/Gumtree, perhaps in your local newspapers. Also, forum marketing is a rather powerful technique when it comes to one time events etc. Not only can you sign up on relevant forums and promote your webinar with your signature link, but if the event is indeed professional (and free), there's a good chance that a lot of forums would even be OK with you opening a thread about it. Good luck!
Thanks for the idea regarding the forum marketing, "bryanon" ! This is exactly what I have started since yesterday. Can you recommend me some forums to post on?
Nick if I'm reading your post right your buddy is basically promoting seo and marketing to mid and large sized businesses? I'm guessing most technology team leaders are pretty sure they don't need any help-- unless its from a proven player they have heard about. Now I'm not saying your buddy is not better then they are re the info being presented But in marketing "perception is the reality". If it was me and I had 3 days to get business viewers --I'd whip up a really compelling short sales type letter and hit their fax machines. Maybe even hire a company to blast out a bunch for me. Good Luck.
I have been seeing some site offering the web email service and i think he would use it to promote his products or webinar easily.
Try webfishery dot com, they are a Lead generation provider on performance model, they produce opt-in registration for any webinars with no set-up fees and they are running a 10-free lead offer as well.
