You don't need luck, you need knowledge, you need to know what to do and where the money is. 1 thing you need is your own site, the next thing is to optimize that site for list building, only then you can start to see some good money.
A bit of luck and a lot of hard work. I have studied those writers in Hubpages who are affiliate for Amazon. Some of them have extremely good luck. They promote one item, the buyer clicks on the link and buy a ton of other items. As for me, I promote books through book review, the buyer clicks on the link and guess what. Instead of buying a new copy, the buyer chooses to buy the used ones.
