I was looking into mobile phone marketing and liked it so much that I decided to start working for a company who does it. It's an application for smart phones. I'm just wondering how many people are already using it or plan to use it. I love this technology and could talk days straight about it. If anyone wants to know more about what I do feel free to ask. I didn't want to post links in the thread because I'm not trying to spam.
It could be an interesting topic. Care to tell us more about the industry and how it works? How the returns and what sort of profit do you expect from it? Is it easy to do or do you need to be an expert?
It's actually really simple and I truly believe it is the future of marketing. Everyone uses a cell phone, smart phone sales increase each year and apps make lives simpler. I'll give an example of how someone will use the app. Someone is shopping at a towne center and wants to see what every local business is offering. He opens the app and BAM, all local stores are shown. He can click on each store to view current promotions. If he likes the promotion he can head on over to the store and redeem the coupon like a paper coupon. If he is not sure how to get there he simply clicks "get directions." He can also view the website or call with one click. I have more examples on the page I made on my blog. You can read it at http://www.anthonytori.com/mobile-coupons/. My favorite feature is how users can mark your business as a favorite. When they do, every time you make a new promotion they are sent a text message. There are so many creative ways on how to use that feature. If you want ideas let me know because I'm trying new stuff all the time. As for the returns, it really depends on your business. I've been using it for free for the past 3 months since there was a big trial period. I've been noticing more and more redemption's each month as it becomes more popular. The more people who use it, the more people who mark me as a favorite. I have a party rental business so I make a new promotion in the middle of the week for party rentals I have not rented out. For example, I made a promotion for one of my bounce houses in a specific city since I have a couple rentals in that city this weekend. One of my customers called me and said I'll take it. You may not use it the same way, but the main point of interacting with your customers is there. The app I use is called Qponomics. It's free so you can play around with it to see how it works. Feel free to ask me any questions about it. I've been using it for about 3 months and love it.
bump for some good info and tips if anybody has them. It is certainly a growing and somewhat untapped market
Just ask me any question and I'll answer it specific for you. The great thing about the app I use is that you can make it work no matter what type of business you have. That's why I suggest downloading the free app and playing around with it. If you have any questions ask or visit the page I made about it on my blog.
I attended a media conference and was shocked to see how many companies are out there that do only mobile internet marketing - it's pretty amazing. Expect things like the "barcode scanner" app to be the biggest thing ever in the next few years...especially with QR codes becoming more publicly known by store owners.
The app I use has a section called "Brands." This is where manufactures can upload barcodes. All you have to do is find the brand you like and BAM, scan it from your phone.
Awesome post and totaly agree with you. But this depends on the market you are going into, but at the momento I will just stick with fisical products. Services will eventually pick up but I dont think people are ready to get a cleaning service through a smart phone.
Services could take longer. I know a lot of tanning salons who signed up. The most important feature for service companies is to have customers mark them as a favorite. For example, the tanning salon can run a promotion for the first 5 people who come in. The promo could be, "first 5 to redeem the coupon in our salon gets $10 off a tanning package and 15% off products." You can even take this a step further and do it during your slow periods. Everyone who has that tanning salon marked as a favorite will get a notification. People who are on the edge of getting a new package or deciding where to go will be more likely to buy from that salon that just made a new promotion. A canoe rental place could send out a promotion when the weather isn't as nice. You can say, "Take $5 off your rental since the weather sucks." This will bring in more people who are on the edge of coming in because of the weather. You are interacting with your customers and reducing the negative reasons why people are not coming in. A cleaning service company could use this a couple ways. Let's say you have a few homes to clean in a particular city. Your day is not completely full and you would like more jobs in the area. You make a promotion saying, "Residents of Panama City enjoy 2 rooms for the price of 1 for 5/18 only. Limited offers so act fast!" You can also use the app to direct it towards a particular demographic. I assume the people who have a smart phone and get a cleaning service make a decent amount of money and are busy. They have kids that do sports and activities. You can make a promotion directed towards those kids events. Parents will see a promotion related to an event that their child is in and will be more likely to redeem it since you are connecting on a personal level. Let's say there is high school play. Boring aren't they? Before it starts and during intermissions people will be on their phone. They can see a promotion saying, "Show us your high school play ticket and receive $20 off a cleaning service." Those are a few ideas I just thought of to show you how services can use them.
We have been servicing mobile marketing industry for many years now. Its definitely the future. We felt that some of the bigger brands took time to move in to mobile marketing. However most have woken up in a hurry. Most of the traditional advertising agencies have no clue as well. If any one needs any help just email me or pm me. Always happy to help.
There is no doubt that mobile marketing is the future for all businesses ... We all should start learning the ropes and there are plenty of niches and needs to be met via mobile access... Here is a link on how to make money with cell phones... Cheers!
Mobile phone marketing is powerful! Being able to send content that is user, device and mobile relevant increases the probability of effectiveness and marketing efficiencies. In addition, the click through possibilities for mobile ads to click to call, click to IVR, click for deliverables, and more, extends the value of the advertisement to be an interactive experience that benefits from the technology integrated into mobile devices - not possible through print, radio, television or even email advertising.
Getting unique content Hi Has anyone tried having article writing competitions on their website? Example: Say you have a soccer website, to have a competition whereby your visitors could write an article on a soccer related topic. The best article chosen then win say $50. This way you could build up some real unique content for your website (fast if you have enough visitors) and for much less of the prize… What do you guys think???
I think you can get only some trash-for-SEO-content this way. Or your website should be really popular
Hey I have something that I know mobile users would be interested in, but how do I market to them? Is there any service that I can use or someone who can do this for me?
Oh my god, are you lot just talking about mobile now? I've been there, done that and bored to hell with it now everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon.
Mobile marketing has been around for quite some time. And I have heard mix reviews about it in recent times. You may want to ask around more and see if it is still a money maker before investing all your time and energy into it.
