I just received a letter that was supposedly from Google that stated I have clicked too much on my account. I didn't click at all but I did set it up for someone else (as an example, so they 'may' have). However, I do not appear to have any extra clicks on my account that weren't paid for - I'm assuming that they wouldn't be paying for any fraudulent clicks. I sent the new website owner a warning NOT to click on ANY ads on his own site, just in case. Anyway, my question is ... if he did click on his own site (that I made for him and set up with my adsense), wouldn't I have a letter also in my adsense account, too? I don't. I'm wondering if this is maybe a fishing letter to get me to try clicking on one of the links since I can't find it in my recent messages. I would THINK they would put it in there ... so, my question is ... does Google Also put it in so you see it when you log in?
If Google Adsense sent you an complain message like that you should be able to see it in your Google Adsense Account. Login to your Google Adsense Account and check messages.
Thank you for your answer. I did ... and that's what I was hoping. No message - No extra clicks, and none of the money removed from my account ... but, the letter looks very authentic.
may have? NOOO, it is "must have" and that why you got this nice letter (or email). you are responsible for your account so whether you make fraud clicks yourself or let someone else click for you is the same thing.
No, I didn't even think about him clicking them out of curiosity. I am making him a website and he couldn't envision what his site would look like so I added them to all the pages so we could finish setting up his design. I know - hindsight is always 20/20. I was so upset that I pulled his whole entire workup of his website off until I could get ahold of him and make sure he knew I wasn't very happy. BIG Lesson learned ... but why isn't there any message in my adsense account. ... and, why did google think *I* clicked my websites? I didn't - and won't. He's in a whole other city - why would they think they're coming from my IP, though? I never click on my ads ... well, ok, we all do the first day - I signed up, I was curious and I did click 3 times (one was search, 2 were ads I was interested in/forgot I couldn't) - but I noticed that google counted the next 6 clicks as invalid ... it seemed fair to me. I haven't clicked on any since that first day. I'm pretty sure that I notified Google that I did, too, because then I found this forum and realized how serious they were. But, those invalid clicks showed in my adsense account ... I have no invalid clicks today, and there is no message in my account (should there be?), and I didn't click - he said he didn't either. He's the only one I could think would be doing it.
If your Adsense account is still active, don't worry about it. Just don't click anymore of your own Adsense Ads.
So I guess it was not an authentic letter. So no need to worry, just make sure you do not click on your own ads and take care that others dont engage in unauthorised clicking. You are responsible for your account, so be careful. Anyway was the letter asking anything else?? like login or click a link etc
It had links in the letter (for login information and such). I don't ever click links from my email. I prefer to open a browser and type it in directly. Like I said, I learned my lesson immediately that first day. It took 6 clicks away from me as not valid when I did click twice and do one search to see how it worked ... and I am pretty sure I emailed google after finding this forum and then becoming very concerned about being kicked out right away. Yes, it wasn't a thought out move, but I was just trying to give the guy that I was making a website for an idea on how it would look with ads. He had me changing this and that back and forth and I was tired of trying to make him envision how it could look. I redesigned the pages at least 20 times and he had given me solid pages to use as examples. At that point, I was just tired of flipping back and forth between design styles. Lesson learned - do not EVER put ads on someone else's site.
Please copy the content of your letter here (I guess it's an email, not a letter) and if there is any link in the email (for phishing purpose) then copy the url too here.
yeah i agree with this.. there are so many hoax email nowadays.. by sharing the email here with us (if its ok with you), at least we can share our opinion whether it is authentic or not (at least on our understanding).. But of course, writing to google is the best way to verify..
This means google caught your fraud click activity and the same thing again and again will ban your account permanently.
I wouldn't worry about it, sounds like a phishing email to me. Can't be sure without seeing it though. Follow the above suggestion and post the email for us to take a look at.
