That is horrible that he was attacked for drawing a cartoon to depict something as it really is. As for the 'hating' Freedom part, maybe they are afraid of fucking up and losing their 72 Virgins.
An Associated Press news release says, "Uppsala University spokeswoman Pernilla Bjork said Vilks was showing an excerpt from a film by an Iranian artist about Islam and homosexuality that had been banned..." I've been trying to figure out what Iranian artist they are talking about, but none of the news sources say. I think they are talking about Sooreh Hera, but I'm not sure.
That's very sad to hear. They may stop him from speaking..but not from thinking. How many times this have to happen?
Such peaceful proponents of free speech. I'm really touched. God bless the religion of peace. p.s. 20th May is the first annual international "Draw Mohhamed Day". google it up http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=113257775375783&ref=ts

The artist that originally began this is frightened now, and backing out. Further, the LA Times said the creator of the Facebook page is backing out as well (but the Facebook page may have taken a life of its own). In the Washington Post article, it mentions CACAH.org (a free Blogspot Blog) that may have taken over this project. I feel, whoever believes this is important could start a blog dedicated to this, even remaining anonymous. It doesn't have to be just one blog, but hundreds. By 20th May 2011 the Draw Mohammed Day celebration could be kicked off in proper style. I'm taking a bit of a break from DP right now as I'm incredibly busy with other stuff, but dropped by to find a link to the story after my partner told me about what had happened. I notice that on both the BBC and AP sites it does not clearly state that he was headbutted by a Muslim. (On one it says "Youths" and another it says "A member of the crowd".) They behave like freaking animals. RETARDED animals. PS - Chaos, will you be drawing Mohamed? I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours
Darpie -- It's got a website too not just facebook pages: http://www.drawmuhammadday.com/ Good catch, Darpie. Thanks. I think that website is much better. Though, I wonder why they won't show any of the pictures until May 20th?
I'm relatively confident this is sarcasm; although if not I'd point out that while the Jews play a big part in several media outlets around the globe, the news is not 100% under Jewish control (You only have to look at papers that publish anti Israeli BS to know that.) Anywho - It is the result of people being too PC - you can't say that Muslims are insane because you'll upset the balance in the loony bin.
Yeah it was sarcasm, should have put a rolleyes emoticon there. Awh..Dp's staff forum is also called the looney bin and calling Muslims insane will upset the balance there too, after all they have so much in common.
thanks Rebecca for this post and links, so useful I think. wow Prophet Mohammad was gay! I don't think so. he married 13 women and had 11 wives simultaneously. in two verses in Koran mentioned about beautiful boys in heaven. couldn't open link of "sooreh Hera" but guess should be interesting.
LOL, was that sarcasm? Then, it sounds as though you are familiar with the work of Sooreh Hera? The artist claims that "it is frequent that married muslim men have sexual relations with other men" mentioning specifically Iran and Saudi Arabia. I'm not saying I agree with her, I have no idea, I've never lived in either country. My comment was only a response to the statement in the article that said "Uppsala University spokeswoman Pernilla Bjork said Vilks was showing an excerpt from a film by an Iranian artist about Islam and homosexuality that had been banned..." I was just wondering if it was her work that was being shown. The link in my post was not to a specific site, but just a Google search for Sooreh Hera. If you type her name in the Google search box, are you getting any results?
Lets see if the forum is okay with us posting drawings. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1800239 EDIT: Now this is funny: Digitalpoint Goes the SouthPark Way - No Cartoons
This is even funnier... Yes, it's those damned cartoons! Cartoonists are the cause of all suffering in the world!! "uh yes, by saying It's no wonder Muslims hate the rest of the world I want you to know that in no way did I mean It's no wonder Muslims hate the rest of the world...I meant to say something uh, well, something vague, like you know, not literal. I would also like to point out, uh, I would much rather be blown up by Muslims than be lynched by Christians." I'm literally laughing out loud. Funny stuff. On a serious note, I do realize I could get banned for this post. If so, I'll miss you all!
no not at all. I'm glad an Iranian involved on it. not sure about all the Iranian men but guess man who married should not be gay but maybe pedophilia. yeah right, but I couldn't open some of the links there, maybe because strong government filter in my country. just see some men photos when start open them by anti filter.
