5 Years Later -- Are we any safer (A soldiers thoughts)

*I know quite a few people in the military...from the navy, to the army. I just thought through all this media driven perspective, it would be nice to read something from a real soldier...not a journalists with a spin.

    -----------------------------------------------------------
5 years later and we have not had any terrorist attacks. Why you ask, cause soldiers like me are in Iraq defending yours and my freedom. There was suppose to be another attack a few months ago but we stopped it. So, yes we are safe.

And we are over there in Iraq to give the Iraqi's freedom from Saddam and live a safe life. Have you ever talked to an Iraqi? I have talked to over 20 of them. They love Americans and love the things we have done to help them.

We built schools, hospitals, women are not oppressed anymore. Children have the opportunity to learn without getting killed. Women can vote!!! Can walk alone on the streets!!! There is healthcare for the elderly there. There are so many good things that we have done but the news does not report it. The news only reports the negative side because that is what people love to see and it sells. Money makes the world go round.

Now as for Bush. Everyone knows the comments he makes. But he does have the nations interests. Plus there are many other people behind the scenes that make the decisions. He is just not good with words.

I am not trying to start an argument but I am a US soldier and I have seen a lot. Things that the people of the United States have never seen nor heard of.

One of the lamest arguments about being safer I've ever heard. 5 years is not a long time, in fact, it's a very short time.

You're in Iraq defending my freedom against who? I had no idea Iraq attacked our freedom before we started bombing them...

The sad reality is our borders aren't secure. Our ports aren't secure. Our airports still aren't even secure! Our own government has said time and again another attack is coming, it's only a matter of when.

I know. They used to happen every 2 years or so (93 - WTC, 95 - Saudi Arabia, 96 - Kobar Towers, 98 Embassies in Africa, '00 USS Cole). 5 years is not really a long time, considering they used to happen every 2 years

they attack our soldiers every single day in Iraq

Why does that soldier think that? Does it help him get thru the day? Because lame arguments from authority don't really fly .

You suggesting ferret is getting awful close to this? It certainly would help validate his point, I'm sure.

Yeah, and it's sad too. It's not an uncommon theme in liberal circles to have so much hatred for a president, that they would wish another attack on their country. Some sick people out there. If only pharmaceutical companies could come up with a miracle drug to cure moonbatism.

after 9 11 the terror groups were on an all time high, and hadn't we acted, we would have had 100s of attacks since.

In case you didn't know (which you obviously don't) a ship with the designation "U.S.S." IS American soil.
