Lets say I have 4 domains on 1 hosting account. Would be wise to split and have 2 hosting accounts, 2 domains on each?

That all depends what you want to do with the domain names.
Are they all for one site?

And how large is the hosting account and can your provider handle multile
    domains in their control panel?

No. Not all for one site. There are 2 different sites. For ex, one domain is the site and other is a url redirect.

I was just asking. Im not in current position.

Each site being the same the 2nd domain should be set up as a 301 redirect to the site. Better when considering SEO

I would place them all in your control panel.
(not using a php or html redirect)
So you have the best SEO.

Well, if the 2 hosting accounts with 2 sites each are hosted on with the same webhost then it probably not going to be any different as the 4 sites in that 1 bigger account. Usually it is cheaper to consolidate all into one account.

However, if you get two hosting accounts from different web host then if one server is down, not all your sites goes down.
