Alt Image Tags on Your Logo

As usual everyone puts the logo in the upper left hand corner of their site. In most cases this is the first body code SEs read.

Should you just leave the alt image tag for your logo the name of your company/site. Or would it help to throw a few keywords in there and use the same tag for the logo across your whole site?

    Hey,

I believe that if you go through your keywords when you optimize your logo cause you know search crawler find your image first of all when it crawl. So it's better that if you go through keyword.

I use the alt tag, with the two targeted keywords that I want to rank the best in google for.

If someone was going to do a 1 or 2 word search, and you wanted your site to show up in the results, that is how I picked my keywords.

I beleive google is at the point where they can actually read the text in your logo even though it's an image...pretty scary, but good for you if you're logo/slogan targets your keyword. About the alt-tag, it should be the same as the test in the image, and if that text doesn't have your keyword in it, then what are you doing? Learn some SEO.

Google cannot read the text in your image, hence the reason for alt tags and the use of descriptive image file names. Don't believe me? Here's a video with Matt Cutts explaining it for you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NbuDpB_BTc

It's worth remembering that the intent of the Alt tag is to help disabled users access your content ... it doesn't exist for you to keyword stuff.

    Having said that, something like:

"Keyword by My Site.com" would be fine as it gets your keyword listed AND helps the user.

interesting thought - it probably doesn't hurt to add a keyword w/ the main image, but I'd be careful - google could one day figure some of these things out

Use only single keyword at the place of logo image alt tag & if you will use your keyword name at the place of logo then it will work very effectively.

    hi,

I would personally suggest that most important keyword can be written in the alt text of logo from SEO point of view. Else Company Name should be there.
