Been working on something pretty steady, and I am just posting about starting my one viral campaign. So far the results have been a steady increase of 21% more traffic/day.

Since it is ongoing, then I don't need to worry about generating new viral mechanics, and it just increases in popularity.

What's even better is the viral ability of it is not a one time thing, but people should return many many times.

Let's see how it goes :)

Just trying to incite some viral techniques by providing a layout of a viral campaign.
A lot of people have tons of trouble developing viral techniques, and viral is what makes or breaks many websites. Unless you want to take the time to spend a lot of money to promote it. Otherwise the lone webmaster needs to rely on tell a friend functionality.

So how does the common webmaster get traffic to a website? Viral marketing techniques.

Let me use a case study.

A few months back I developed a website that was social networking for gamers, specifically warcraft.
The webpage created undue attention in the first 2 weeks, due to some well placed linkbacks, and I received an article listed on gamespy.

The gamespy article generated 114,000 repeats of the same article, and tons of backlinks.

The website got hundreds of thousands of unique views in a short time, but the idea didn't stick. It was more of a mocking type site, and generated negative publicity, sure I got a few thousand signups, but the website died quickly after.

The speed of the viral marketing through controversy was painfully incredible, and it was amazing how fast information can flow, all this occurred within 4 days.

    My advice is:
Find something controversial, that will provide positive feedback for the end user. Submit an article to ezine, I didn't do this, but it would probly help, and if the idea is good, the internet will take hold of it all by itself. If it's not, then back to the drawing board.

Look at Mr. 15k, a few forum posts and his blog is within the 10k of sites on alexa.
