Article Marketing and Building Backlinks

I know this has been asked several times, but I want to know from those that do article marketing to build backlinks and to get traffic.

Do you find it to be more effective to submit one article to a million directories, 1 article to 1 directory, such as EzineArticles, or to submit 1 article to several different article directories that have similar authority as Ezine?

I build backlinks by way of article marketing and Press Release submissions and I just came up with a new way of building backlinks that seems to be working very well. Now, they way I build these links seems to only get me to rank higher and higher in the SERPs, (which is GREAT) but it doesn't bring me initial/instant traffic. I receive most of my traffic from Organic Search and from forums such as this one.

Article Marketing is by far one of the best ways of building backlinks for your website and ranking high for your keywords. But- What do you think needs to be done in order to receive traffic from my articles that I post on other directories?

    Hi GuruCreation,
10 years ago, the article marketing business was really related to 'marketing', so you might get a lot of hits from your article posted on those old PR and article services.
Nowadays, the new services and the old ones are so overcrowded, that there is no real chance for an ordinary reader to get your article in front of his eye. The whole industry currently simply boils down to publishing articles for the sake of Google, not readers.

In order to get some traffic, you need to either submit an article to first-class press-release services, or push it to real online media, or post it on a highly popular blog/forum.

PS. Can you share this in PM: "I just came up with a new way of building backlinks that seems to be working very well". If not, never mind.

    Hey GeorgeKuipers,

Thanks for the different insight on this issue.. First-Class-Press-Release-Service, you have any you would like to recommend? And what about real online media? Where should I go about doing this?

I have also sent you a PM in regards to the new backlink building strategy I use.

If your looking for just "Backlink Juice" then I would recommend sending one
article to multiple directories. There are many services out there that will do this for you
for cheap. Dont just stop at one article, submit multiple articles daily.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing... I was just looking at doing the same thing, but trying to figure out how I can get those articles viewed a lot more than they are. I've been article marketing for a while now and it has brought me great results as far as getting backlinks and getting to the first page of Google and other Search Engines..

Now, I'm looking to keep myself there, but at the same time, while I submit these articles, I want more traffic going to the articles, which in turn, to a point, will generate more click-throughs to my site from my links in the author/bio box, from the article.

Any particular directories or sites that you submit your articles to, work the best for you? If you don't mind sharing.

    Yeap, just replied in PM.
About the press-release services, I use four of them:
    prweb
    prnewswire
    businesswire
    marketingwire
From these four I get around 250 000 views per release in total, but, importantly, only 100-200 visits to my websites. Lots of high quality links too.

Online media is tough to reach unless you have something really new and innovative on your website. Bespoke solutions are needed here, no general approaches.

From what I can tell, they all cost some money to use them, correct?

I have used prweb before and I got some really good results, but I wanted to find something that was a little cheaper and got the same results or even better if at all possible. But as the saying is "You Get What You Pay For".

You want Cheap Services, your going to get Cheap Results.

    Well said ;-)

Since I run a high-scale business, I can just allow myself paying for such things.

I haven't tried submitting articles to a few hundred websites. I usually submit articles to Ezinearticles first, then to Goarticles and one or two more article directories.

Just curious, how often do you submit to these services? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?

Article marketing still works, but it is not as effective as it used to be. I would reccomend, ezinearticles, but also video marketing. Just use a default professional powerpoint template. One header and one paragraph per slide. Inpowerpoinrt 2010, you can save it as a video. If you dont have that, you can use camtasia. Maybe putting a nice claming music in the video too, or talking on the microphone you text

Article marketing is the best way to improve your SERP and i think one article to one directory as it maintain its uniqueness.

submitting 1 article to ezinearticles will eventually get your article posting on other directories. Your article will get passed around. Just make sure your bio info has your link.

In my opinion submitting to hundreds of article directories is very time consuming. Most of them are poorly indexed by Google and spammed to death anyway. Submitting duplicate content to these directories is useless. I would suggest you to focus on 10-20 really good article directories that rank high in Google and submit unique articles to them. For more links with longtail keywords in the anchor text you can setup a dozen of autoblogs on different IPs which if done right will get you enough backlinks to dominate your niche (hopefully it's not real estate or weight loss :) ).

A regular article marketing campaign is the best bet to go for if you are looking at backlinks and thereby higher rankings in search engines, submit one article, make unique versions of it and submit it to hundreds of article directories which will give you the clean backlink and link juice.

If you are looking at traffic, then you need to submit one originally written article which can create linkbait kind of flutter and submit it to one of those major high PR article directory and build backlinks to that particular article itself, then you will see that article ranking higher up in search engine quickly which can eventually bring in more traffic to your sites / products.

There are also various other methods of article marketing, depending upon what you are promoting, what kind of backlinks you require, what is the product that you are selling...................

Article marketing is a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry. These articles are made available for distribution and publication in the marketplace. Well written content articles released for free distribution have the potential of increasing the authoring business' credibility within its market as well as attracting new clients.
